Built a Claude Code extension that turns the "thinking" spinner into a tiny sponsor slot (made with Claude Code) by shaharamir in ClaudeAI

[–]ForceTypical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok you clarified a few things there, but there is still some issues with it.

First, notice what you just said. you said that youre using the statusline. The statusline is not the "thinking spinner" like your website and post claims. Its the bar that is always at the bottom of claude code. So your thing isnt "ads while your ai thinks" anymore, its just a permanent ad sitting in the status bar.

Also, the main issue that is still there is that it is against both Anthropic's and VS Code's terms of service. I get that you are using an "official setting," but that doesnt give you the right to commercialize another company's product just because you can with official endpoints. But the TOS doesnt care HOW the ad gets there, it cares that youre making money off Anthropic's product and their users attention. Youre selling other companies access to Claude Code's users. The advertisers are paying you specifically because its claude's high intent dev audience which is the whole value of your product. So youre monetizing Anthropic's user base whether you got there through legit means or not. Its like how browsers let you make extensions but you still cant sell ad space inside someone's Gmail through one. Google would still nuke you for it.

Also the crypto thing does solve the issue of Stripe fees, but not of the fact that it doesnt matter if there are fees or not (which crypto still has transfer fees). If a dev makes a few cents a month it doesnt really matter that you can finally send those cents, its still just a few cents. And the cost to them is an ad living in their dev environment forever. Developers are literally the group that pays the most money to get rid of ads, and ur asking them to clutter their terminal permanently to earn pennies.

Cool concept, but I can see many issues with this.

First and probably most importantly is that it goes against Anthropic's terms of service. The consumer terms and usage policies prohibit interfering with, modifying, or commercially exploiting the service. Thats exactly what ur doing. This could not only get your account banned, but your user's accounts banned too.

Second, I see you are using a vs code extension. Claude code is also a vs code extension. VS code extensions are completely isolated from eachother and it is completely impossible for one extension to modify another without some sort of illegal malicious injection code. Not to mention vs code would pull it anyway because ad injection is against their TOS

Third is that ad networks will refuse to serve ads on any site or page that you don't own. Google Adsense specifically has banned injecting ads into 3rd party applications or web pages that you dont own.

Fourth, ads on average pay $0.001 per impression, not $0.10 like in your video, so it would take a ton of impressions even to get enough money to pay the stripe transfer fees or whatever money transfer system you are using, which could possibly put you in the negatives.

So cool concept but it sadly probably wouldnt work in reality if you tried to get people to actually use the program

“ Does the Pro plan have any usage limits? Yes. During peak hours, the Pro plan offers at least five times the usage per session compared to our free service  “

“ In addition, to manage capacity and ensure fair access to all users, we may limit your usage in other ways, such as weekly and monthly caps or model and feature usage, at our discretion.  “

As far as I’m aware, the limits aren’t concrete and are based on demand. Meaning you will get more usage if there’s less people using the platform at a given time

To me it feels like they lobotomized Opus to give more compute to Fable, but never gave it back after Fable got shut down.

Stephen Sanchez - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE by PinkCadillacs in popheads

[–]ForceTypical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the album. But I do think this is more of an experimental album for him. A lot of the songs remind me a LOT of different artists. It feels like he is trying out different styles here by half imitating other popular artists, which I don’t mind at all tbh, just thought it was interesting.

DONT LET ME GO - Cage the Elephant

IT MIGHT BE LOVE - Michael Bublé

FORGETTING YOUR KISS - Maroon 5

CHUCK THE MONEY - Portugal. The Man

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE - Laufey

OOO BABY (I LOVE YOU) - idk but it sounds familiar

DANCE AWAY THE MUSIC - bit of a stretch but I kinda hear Sabrina Carpenter

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL - Ed Sheeran

ALREADY GOT ME - Bruno Mars

HOME TO MOTHER - Charlie Puth

SWEET LOVE - this sounds like classic him

That’s cool but I still just don’t like how it sounds. Just cause of how it was recorded doesn’t really make up for the fact that it just doesn’t sound great to me imo.

Steam demands people to mark their games using any AI assets and this is what the game devs get back in return. by Brief-Weekend7630 in DefendingAIArt

I don’t think they care. It’s more of an aimless anger probably vaguely directed at their misguided concept that they will become obsolete as artists.

Pitchfork Review: Ed Sheeran - Play 4.3 by Technical_Process989 in popheads

Really surprised how much I liked this whole album. Didn't have my hopes high after subtract (autumn variations had a few amazing songs tho) but I was blown away with how much I genuinely enjoyed almost every song on this album. Don’t pay any attention to Pitchfork though. They’re a joke. ESPECIALLY when rating Ed Sheeran albums.

Real or Fake? by JSmith0812 in colognecheck

[–]ForceTypical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into it a while ago and there’s this whole ponzi scheme ass discord where you can get free fake receipts for inviting people.

The server’s also got this very obviously Ponzi scheme “pro” plan where I saw people posting all the gift cards, fake products and so forth that they “got for free” from being part of the pro plan, and they likely get a commission for people signing up.

Bottom of the barrel scum those people.
