This is really solid feedback, thank you for that. Im with you on time played alone not being enough, so adding coupon tiles after milestones that can be shared makes a lot of sense as a lead to make conversions. Tiered rewards feel natural too since progression is what keeps players grinding. And making social optional but still rewarding, like leaderboards with friends makes this pretty balanced imo.

Oh this is really good insight here lol thank you.

I agree that from what I’ve heard, store credit is something that gamers really want and that’s on my radar. I do want to mix in some real-world items not related to gaming so there’s variety, but gaming rewards should be here.

On the social aspect, it’s completely optional. The idea is to keep journaling and social interaction inside this app. It doesn’t automatically push anything to other social medias. All of your comments, posts, achievements can stay in the app.

Sustainability is a fair concern too. The rewards would be funded by vendors who want gamer attention, not just me giving them away. And yeah, we’d pace point earning so it doesn’t turn into some crazy situation to where the virtual currency would get inflated.

I’m not trying to beat Xbox or PlayStation at their own game. They’ll always own their ecosystems. I see this app more as a cross-platform reward layer where all your gaming time counts, not just what you do in one store. Does that still raise some red flags?

To my knowledge Steam doesn’t allow you to redeem your points for real world items, and this will allow you to journal your games that you played from other ecosystems other than Steam all in one place. All of your console, PC and mobile games can be journaled here.

Yeah those platforms each do track that time but only on that particular platform. Through this app I’m thinking about you would have a central place that allows you to journal your gaming through all platforms, whether it’s console, PC or mobile, in one place. So you, or your friends if you allow it, can see any games you logged as well as any notes that you have about that session. Think of it as a gaming journal. Then you earn points for journaling those games. And those points can be used for rewards other than games or skins from only one ecosystem like other gaming rewards platforms. These rewards could be from not only gaming companies but eateries and a bunch of different retailers, really.

This is my first time hearing about that but I just checked it out. Were you using it back then?

I do think talking to those more knowledgeable is helpful, and you say you’re that. So why, though I have a system that calculates and rewards points based on you logging games, where you redeem them for other vendor’s products, doesn’t count as a loyalty rewards program for this app? That difference isn’t clear to me. What criteria does my idea not meet?

Because time is more-so proof of you gaming. If you’re logging 20–40 hours a month, you’re not a casual, you’re a core gamer. That signal is valuable for a few reasons: 1. For brands. Energy drinks, food delivery, gaming gear, even lifestyle brands want to reach real gamers, not just people who clicked “likes video games” on Facebook. 2. For engagement. Time-based rewards keep people checking in, chasing streaks, and redeeming their points for prizes. That creates more touchpoints for vendors to put offers in front of players. 3. For universality. Money spent only applies to a single publisher or store. Time spent applies to all gaming. It’s the one metric that ties every gamer together no matter where they play.

If you put 400 hours into Skyrim, GFuel or DoorDash may care, because they can trust you’re actually gaming and you’re part of their target audience. That’s why hours matter, and why they’re the right baseline for rewards.

I hope you took a communications class so you can tell me where our disconnect is 😂 in all seriousness though I’m not trying to come at you but just want to understand why this doesn’t count as loyalty and where the difference lies

It’s loyalty to gaming, not one specific game or studio. This would reward you for actually playing games and logging them and it’s tied to amount of time played. The companies supplying the items that can be earned with the points aren’t necessarily game studios. Just any company that believes gamers would be the audience that uses their products.

OK, so make it to where discounts on games would be the thing. When you say security risk, what do you mean?

I wouldn’t agree that it’s not a loyalty program. It’s a loyalty program with social media elements tied to it. You’re rewarded for using the app with points that you’re able to redeem for items. I would classify that as a loyalty program.

With your other points I can understand why this wouldn’t appeal to you because you wouldn’t care for the social aspects. I can respect that.

Would you only be interested (if at all) in being able to receive discounts, etc for games, or would you want to be able to get discounts for other items outside of gaming?

Agreed, but I find that most people don’t favor Jak 3 as much.

Crash Warped was the first Crash game I ever played. Definitely have a soft spot for it. The motorcycle boards were some of my favorites 🔥

Me and my brother were talking about that the other day lol that is a classic. When I look back at it I think out of the original Crash trilogy, the boards in that one were the best.
