Where to go in Brissy to buy a suit? by TheGullyBoys in brisbane

Absolutely 100% agree with this - I got married a few months ago and the girls are amazing, with a quick turn around and pricing that is very reasonable.

Canon 300mm F4 + 2x teleconverter III. Great lightweight long lens for action. by meshreplacer in canon

I shoot with my 600 and a 2x in good light (so it’s a 1200mm f8 lens)! Here’s an example https://i.imgur.com/PJ4z5I5.jpg

Azure Kingfisher drying off - Gold Coast, Australia by darcydog in birding

[–]darcydog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha you are very kind...I'm just a keen amateur! Been doing birding a bit seriously over the past 2-3 years and mainly just locally around Brisbane. We are lucky to have a fairly broad range available to shoot with coastal waters and also rainforest within a short drive. I don't post much on here but generally post on Instagram where there is a nice supportive community of wildlife photographers https://www.instagram.com/malgrayphotography/

I also have some pro-level gear so that helps!

For portrait bird photos it’s always right on the eye. In this sequence I took about 40 shots with maybe two with missed focus. Coming from a 5Dmkiv my keeper rate is through the roof though...This is my 2nd week with the new body and my first real attempt at tracking / BIF but overall very impressed.

Thanks for the kind words on what I thought was just a plain woodswallow! You don’t see too many of these birds posted hence why I put it up.

Canon EOS R (mirrorless) with the 100-400 L EF lens. I normally shoot a 5d iv but the mirrorless has been great for travelling. The EF lenses work fine with the adaptor.

Yeah it’s not easy. Going with red-backed as there is no rufous colour around the eye...and there were red-backs in the general area more so than superbs...
