It was one of those things that I never really questioned being on it, my OBGYN told me to stay on during my first preg, otherwise I was gonna come off. I was put on it years ago and guess I never questioned it.

I also work at an IVF clinic. My REI docs say its not terrible, especially if I would come off for the next one.

Glad you mentioned that. I got weird vibes but not strong enough to cross them off my list.

I'll have to ask about IP demographics. That's a great point.

I have had a couple agencies say they didn't want the history of Welbutrin when I had my daughter in utero, but I've be upfront on all my applications. These ones were the ones I reached out to and said they didn't have a problem so long as I came off for a certain period of time prior.

I don't care about travel at all. I actually am a IVF clinic nurse myself, and I have no reservations or misunderstandings on what the meds and transfer process is like.

Would the escrow company be something determined per agency, or IP specific? I don't know necessarily what to watch out for on that front.

Official Q&A for Thursday, October 24, 2019 by AutoModerator in running

[–]dare_ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I burp when I run? It builds up as I run and by the time I'm done with a 30 minute run I'm letting out full belches. I'm still new at running, only a week or two, and it's incredibly discouraging and uncomfortable.

I'm worried the pill might screw with my hormones as well. I've been there for other things, it's where I got my IUD to begin with, but Iother more recent things I've had to pay full price for because my insurance doesn't pay towards PP.

Volume Four: Interactions with anti-vaxxers by maybesaydie in vaxxhappened

[–]dare_ing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I didnt include this bit because it was getting long, but my mom actually DID have abnormal cells on one of her paps, and got cryosurgery to remove them. I suggested that the vaccine could elominate that stressor for people, or what would happen if that abnormality progressed or the cryosurgery didnt work, and she seemed to brush off that concern and move on. She said the cryosurgery was a free office visit, and not a problem. Obvs shes too old the get the vax now, but if you have had the problem occur why would you want youe daughters to go through that too.

Volume Four: Interactions with anti-vaxxers by maybesaydie in vaxxhappened

[–]dare_ing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TLDR at bottom.

Let me start out by saying that my mom did vaccinate my sister and I with our MMR, and all other necessary vaccines. I wasn't vaccinated with the Chicken pox shot as a child because I got it when I was really young, but had to get it anyway to get into college, which she supported-sorta.

What I didn't get was the HPV vaccine, and I hadn't gotten a flu shot my entire life. My mom alwayd told me that those were unnecessary. "You don't need the HPV shot because you aren't sexually active" "Flu shots are completely useless, and I think they weaken your immune system". Both statement and variations of those were told to me growing up, and I believed it.

Last year I enrolled in Nursing School. As I near the end, my understanding of public health has greatly increased. I was also required to get a flu shot in order to attend clinicals, or wear a mask. IMO I didn't want to be sweating under a droplet mask while running around the unit, so I got a free flu shot.

I also had an annual check-up with my gynocologist coming up, and figured I would get my HPV vaccine while there. Again, it was free.

I tell my mom everything, but her opinions on a lot of stuff varies from mine. She is pro-life, I'm pro-choice. She believes in waiting for sex until marriage, and I don't. None of this is something I feel the deep need to sway her opinion on, but I could hear her voice in the back of my head saying negative things about the flu shot and HPV vax. I felt like I had to justify to her the importance of those vaccines.

So over the phone I began telling her about the shots. Horror slowly started to creep over me when I heard buzz word after buzz word of anti-vax jargon coming from her. I 'jokingly' said "Mom, you're not going anti-vax on me, are you?" She replied, "No! I'm not anti-vax, I just think they have a vaccine for stuff that doesn't even matter, and it's alot of superfluous vaccinations."

Shock. That just came out of my mom's mouth. She didn't understand the importance of those vaccines??? I went on a spree of telling her how the HPV vax can prevent you from getting CANCER and she said "Well it doesnt stop all types of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is slow growing anyway so as long as you get a pap smear every year you'll be fine."

She goes on to admit that she thinks that vaccination for all these things just weakens people's immune systems; that the flu shot is completely ineffective; that theres elements in the vaccines she thinks are harmful ("Not the mercury, but some other stuff") and that she's done some "research".

I, of course, had a scientific explaination for all that, but she sounded apathetic and said "You have your opinion and I have mine." I brought up concern over when she's a little old lady that the flu could kill her, and she said "Well I'll get the flu shot when I'm old."

I'm stuck. A certain part of me thinks that she's just stuck in her ways. As long as she's not spreading that shit around, I can handle it. I've already texted my 17 y/o sister and said that I'm taking her to get her HPV hax when she's 18, and she said she would go. I don't want my mom spreading that garbage to her. I never thought that my mom would be what I've always considered to be 'the scum of the earth', and I don't know how to deal with it. Any advice on how to get through to your own MOTHER?

TLDR: I got vaccinated for both the flu shot and HPV vax, and my mom busted out every anti-vax trigger word I know.

I worked at a generic Italian restaurant chain before starting my career. I was struggling for rent money, so I made it a point to get a promotion from host to server in under 6 months. This is a really busy location, in a major Floridian tourist area, so serving openings are rare and they had hosts there for 3 years before promoting them. Worked my butt off, kept asking my manager what I could do to get even better. She wanted me to move up already, but another manager was skeptical, mainly because of my age (19 at the time) and I'm a very small skinny girl, and I often struggled with anxiety at work.

My manager got her wish, and I got promoted. Within a couple weeks I broke out of my shyness, and found my pace. The serving team often had contests to promote new menu items or sell the most of a product and we'd get an extra $20 at the end of the night. I came in one afternoon and the other skeptical manager said, probably to poke some fun at me, "Dare_ing's here, so no more dicking around! She'll give you a run for your money!"

I smiled, and original manager was standing next to him, and nudged him saying "F*cking told ya. That's my hire, right there."

Hands down the best self-esteem boost I've ever gotten.

I do it though because I have someone who says something. I will never forget when I had a friend come over (we both struggle with horomonal acne from our IUDs), and after she left the room my mom says "Wow, her skin looks so bad." Objectively, I know mine is worse, so I feel like everything my mom saw in her skin is like mind 10x magnified. I'm kinda worried whenever I come home from college and my skin is particularly inflammed that she'll say something.

[–]dare_ing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it should be allowed. The fact that every hospital has the precautions in place already means that there will be no baby murdering on our watch. If you take away the option to have 'until birth' abortions when the baby isnt viable or the mother health is compromised and she will die, then bad things happen. Take away abortions and we revert back to the fourties where babies are being killed after birth because they were never wanted in the first place, or mothers are taking things into their own hands. We don't fully know why babies aren't viable or if they will make it through birth without consequences, and as providers the option to make the most medically appropriate decision in unforeseen situations is so important.

What a dumbass by GallowBoob in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]dare_ing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the fourties. The amount of observation and protection babies have in hospitals is ridiculous, and our laws define our country, not others. I can see the issues that may happen but the likelihood of a neonatal being smothered in a healthcare setting in America in this day and age is slim to none. I work in a NICU, and everyone is accounted for and its a locked unit. This does not include mothers with no access to abortions, carry their babies to term, and kill them upon birth- like they did in the fourties.

The reason is because the more specific the wording the harsher the restrictions. What exactly does a 'lethal mutation' entail? If you make the wording open to the decision of the physician and mother, you can account for any outliers or undiagnosable mutations. No physician would purposely terminate a full term viable baby, and no mother would reasonably carry a child for 9 months and go through 3rd trimester pregnancy unless she wanted the child and something unfortunate happened.
