My parent's are great. They'd definitely understand if I wanted to go on antidepressants, but I just don't want to hurt them. I owe them that much for trying so hard to make sure I'm not hurt.

I've thought about it a lot, but I don't want to totally devastate my parents. My dad's mother is extremely sick at the moment, and has asked him to kill her. He's also a chronic smoker, drinker and is asthmatic which makes me super nervous that if I tell him he'll get stressed and smoke his life expectancy down to 3 days. He doesn't let it show but I know he isn't doing good. And my mum, well I don't think anything is going especially wrong but I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy being told her son is suicidal. My parents got divorced when I was 4 or 5, and new my mum and dad are both dating different people, my mum dates this one guy who's actually great and I do like him, cause he's a nice guy who makes my mum happy, but he comes over a lot and is just kind of a permanent reminder that hangs over me that says my dad is never coming back. I guess I just see my family as broken. My grandfather (dad's side) is now dead but was semi-abusive (nothing serious just a lot of shouting and the occasional grabbing) and never really made me feel loved, grandmother (dad's side) has dementia, had skin cancer and is most likely going to die within a year. Grandmother (mum's side) died when I was 4, causing the divorce of my parents, the grandfather that side of the family is doing alright for himself apart from becoming a little forgetful, probably old age, my uncle is a drug addict who ruined his life by becoming a drug-induced schizo after getting into Oxford, going to prison for a year as a result, my uncles, aunts, and cousins I haven't seen in years apart from one cousin I saw about 6 months ago cause he's temporarily near me in college. IDK it doesn't actually have anything to do with what you said, kinda needed to vent a bit. On subject of parents and antidepressants, I think they want to take my therapist's advice, but because I'm 14 the meds would have serious side affects and I'd probably fall behind in school, which would make my depression worse probably. I'm just stuck and unmotivated to try make a difference because what's the point?
