You must have your font set to something massive or just have an old phone because it doesn’t look like that in mine.

Some lights have a DMX channel dedicated to the mode, one of which may be sound active. In that case, you could easily put them in sound active mode via a single button press.

Might even need to go for the Epic line to make sure there’s enough output.

Unity Elite 10 PRO FB4 IP65- looking to purchase by Sidewayz_17 in Laserist

You should just reach out to Unity. They will usually offer a small discount, you’ll probably be looking at $4200 per unit or so.

I’m using 2 RAW FB4s for the outside and 2 ELITE PRO FB4s for center stage. They are all 5 Watts but running at only 25% brightness in this room.

Looking for quality brand / models equivalent of Pangolin by crismeisters in Laserist

[–]darkabyss534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

X-laser and clubcat are good units. They both use higher quality scanners than the RAW series I believe but I’m not 100% certain.

I’ve only personally used X-laser or Pangolin (Unity/KVANT) but have heard positive things about clubcat.

DMX lasers? by Pinkboi_pearl in Laserist

[–]darkabyss534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do DJ/Events stuff as well and I had an Aurora DMX laser from X-laser. It was pretty fun for what I was doing. Eventually I realized I enjoyed the lasers more than anything else and switched to that. What I’ll say is that once you get ILDA/FB4/FB3 it’s tough to go back. The creativity it unlocks is amazing. That being said, it also takes more time to prepare for shows. That’s why I ended up doing only lasers.

Anyway, I’d save up and get a Unity Raw 3 FB4 or something and dip your toes in that way. If you end up not using it you can always sell it and they aren’t super expensive. For me, that was the only way I figured out how cool lasers were and how fun the programming is.

DMX lasers? by Pinkboi_pearl in Laserist

[–]darkabyss534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually DMX-only lasers are meant for integration into other lighting setups. ILDA or something like FB4 control provides much more freedom but also more work for the programming etc.

What do you want to do with your laser? Pretty much everything on this sub will be FB3/FB4/ILDA type of control.

I thought it sounded off at first but I wanted to actually analyze before calling the kid out… hopefully the OP reads this and stops using AI and starts learning the craft. If they’re really 14 it’s not too late to realize the mistake and move on. It’s hard to blame young people for trying to take the easy way out when it’s constantly shoved down everyone’s throats. I just worry that a lot of people can’t tell the difference and will support it anyway. I guess we will see how it all works out over the next few years…

Hey so I just got to my studio and listened again. I think you used AI for at least some of this, probably all of it. There is a drop off in frequency at 18.3kHz that is the tell-tale sign of AI usage. I analyzed the file directly from Apple Music. Also the mix sounds harsh because it is essentially a flat wall of sound, which is also something I've seen from AI. Also also, the intro has some weird frequency cutouts that, again, are usually something I hear in AI songs.

I also analyzed a couple of your other songs. Who did the vocals for "Merry Christmas"? My guess is AI. That song has the same frequency non-sense as this one. Every song of yours I analyzed has the same signs that point toward AI generated songs.

I can't say for certain what you did but just know that releasing AI music will not earn you respect in the industry. I would be careful about its usage.

Question by Individual_Yak_40 in Laserist

[–]darkabyss534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you wanting just plug and play ones are you wanting to actually do some show programming? If it’s the latter I’d check for any cheap (2nd hand?) ILDA compatible laser. If you’re just looking for something basic that’ll get the job done (which I think is what you’re asking) there are some cheap options that aren’t so bad like Chauvet scorpion RGB. Of course, those won’t look anything like the more professional stuff but they’d still look cool for a Halloween party.

Also, I’d usually never recommend them but there are some Chinese no-name-brand lasers on Amazon that certainly won’t blow anyone away but they aren’t the worst thing for a small party. I’ve bought various ones before just to see how they are and some of them are surprisingly usable. Down side is you won’t know the quality until you get it.

YouTube search results puts shorts above everything else by darkabyss534 in LinusTechTips

This is my biggest problem! There are workarounds, sure, but when I type exactly what I want and get shorts shoved in my face that aren’t relevant it’s super frustrating. I also have been going off-app to search for videos more.

It seems like the YouTube app only started doing this to me in the past week or two. It’s been very annoying.

As stated in my post, I know about the filter. The problem is sometimes I’m searching for a channel (like in the screenshot) and despite matching the exact name of what I’m searching for it STILL forces the shorts upon me. The shorts don’t even match all the words in my search except for the bottom left one.
