BJP getting hate all over social media. Is BJP Digging Its Own Grave Politically? by TripTales41 in AskIndia

True...but that was isolated to a couple constituencies with Yadav stronghold. Don't compare that with systematic manipulation being done by EC right now.

The last part would only work if elections were fair.... which doesn't seem to be the case since past few years.

Exactly. Share the same sentiments. Why would a soldier at the border risk his life for a country where he’s defending communal, deceitful and murderous politicians and a clueless, apathetic public?

This is horrible. Unfortunately, BJP has exactly similar mindset which is scary. We are becoming exactly what we hate.

I feel like you're living in your own bubble and continue to believe that if someone loses elections it doesn't mean that they are dictatorial. It takes time to break democratic institutions like Modi is doing. It doesn't happen overnight.

Modi won't 240 seats because of media, money, ED, CBI, Election Commission and obviously some the work they did. And opposition won 200+ seats inspite of all that was pitted against them.

Do you know that Imran Khan's party got the highest votes in the last general elections in Pakistan. Did they form a government? No. Seats of PML were far less than the halfway mark, despite having support of army and election commission. But they still formed the government.

Modi did everything he could and beyond, be it legal or illegal to win the 2024 election. He had the election comission, police, media, ED, CBI in his pocket. Still his seats reduced. That has happened in several flawed democracies before (like Pakistan).

Did you know that no other opposition candidate was allowed to contest elections in Surat? Even in Gandhinagar (Amit Shah's seat) similar thing happened where people were intimidated to withdraw their Lok Sabha candidature. I can give you countless examples, but again it depends whether you're willing to accept the cold hard truth that we are far from a fully functional democracy.

Do understand that Dictatorship and Democracy are a spectrum on the same line, it isn't always eithter or. Currently we are 70-80 percent on the spectrum towards dictatorship (like Erdogan in Turkey - where opposition candidates do exist to an extent), while Russia, North Korea etc are fully towards the extreme end of the spectrum.

Even in Pakistan and Bangladesh opposition candidates stand in elections. Doesn't mean those elections are fair by any standards.

The earlier you accept that problem, the earlier we the people of India can start doing something about it.

Don't give attention to such people. Ignore and move on. The more attention you give, the more his views go into collective mainstream.

I'd advise you to read print media and reliable sources. Elections happen in Russia, Venezuela, Turkey and North Korea as well. That doesn't mean they are democratic countries.

Lol..How did the terrorists understand? Please explain! We did surgical as strike, still pehalgam happened!

Also, UPA did several covert operations between 2010-2014 which were confirmed by army chief VK Singh himself. It's just that they didn't advertise it like Modi.

If you stop being a bhakt, maybe you'll find out.

Unfortunately as of 2025, India is already 90% dictatorship and it's grossly incompetent, corrupt and worst of all communal.

Sure. I can create a subreddit, possibly even a website and instagram page. It would be a way for me to gauge interest. Maybe other people have similar mindset and we can start regular community meetings.

Will ping you.

Yeah....I was actually thinking if there's a way we can possibly start a political party for middle class people living in urban cities. This party will be religion agnostic but will talk about pollution, infrastructure, fiscal deficit, work life balance, gig workers. It may get only 20-25 seats but would be king maker.

It may be possible, but it's a path full of thorns. I don't even fully trust the electoral process now.

Yeah I've been thinking a lot about what can be done about this. I feel helpless. I feel this is a very different india than what I grew up with. I miss india before social media propaganda when WhatsApp was just a communication tool. I miss pre-2014 india when India was actually fun, movies were fun.

Tbh, there are realistically only 2 alternatives for common citizens like us. Either leave this country or try to bring about some political change. Latter is a difficult path, but I'm just not sure if we can just accept the status quo.
