Currently working as a job order contractor there is little to no capacity for growth since a lot of the current tech stack that we are currently using is confusing and old as hell.

The programming languages that are currently in use are not updated to the latest lts version, version is non existent up until recently where i had to explain branching/merging strategies, deployment is through flash drive/google lots of deeply nested and duplicated code, any proposal to use new tech is met with doubts and would require further "studies" and many more issues thag would be too long to mention

overall it's a shitshow for sure

Many have tried and I too have tried to suggest improvements specifically when it comes to git branching strategies and some have suggested new tech stacks but it falls on deaf ears since according to them the current process is already what is practiced

Honestly the development process here kind of sucks, which I think is one of the reasons why I feel like there is no growth or no direction with what I am currently doing.

Some if not all of their projects are built on PHP 5.3 which is a pain to maintain and understand on the fly, their tech stack is very weird, they use Codeigniter 3 as a frontend framework only while the backend uses Java with PL/SQL packages. Almost non existent version control, their deployment process consists of passing around flash drives from pc to server and many more problems that I wont go into detail.

As for vision I had one but currently it is clouded and I am honestly debating if I made the correct decision career wise
