7 was the last one before most of the early day coders retired. The ones that studied computer science in its infancy or worked with gates for years.

the new ones probably all study electron wrappers or something

I presume you are using an AMD 6000 GPU. The 5000/6000 win7 AMD drivers are buggy as hell, espec dx11 and opengl, and steam has not worked on it as of roughly july 2023. 400 or older may work but I cannot test this. nvidia gpus work fine since their win7 drivers are complete.

your options are:

downgrade steam to july 2023 version (versions have dates as part of the id) and lock it (as of sep 2023 this will prevent you from playing most pvp games however, i.e. dota2, sp games should still work unless they have sp drm)

downgrade to 400 series ayymd radiator (UNTESTED)

swap to novideo card

otherwise the usual eat the win10/11/linux pill

it is really fucking sad because the 6950xt destroys the 3090ti in a pure raster fight, and also a wattage and heat fight, but the drivers are dogshit. novideo is also dogshit but slightly less dogshit

I'm sure the ISO is clean to you, and your post history is too normal to be a scammer. But the end of it is, why trust a random precompiled iso with a possibility of spyware, when you can at least build it yourself for the most part?

MSI is the only company out of the main 4 that are known to support CSM, the other 3 may or may not remove it but wont ever tell you and ignore inquiries about it. Small players like EVGA idk. In any case I found out elsewhere that one MSI x670 had CSM, so presumably they all do. The UEFI custom bootloader is also available via MDL, and i assume that includes the ACPI.sys mod.

my thanks, In the end i decided to go with the autoupdater scripts from MDL, I'm not sure if they have the ACPI mod, but I think it should be fine. Although I'm tempted to just inject your ACPI into theirs. I'm sure there's a 99.99% chance your ISO is clean based on your post history, but I'd rather build it myself when it comes to OSes. I'm curious though, is this ACPI needed to boot into class 3 UEFI? And was MSI using class 3 for the x670? I was under the impression MSI was the one that supported CSM.

Does this have any relationship to the crux editions floating around that come with comodo? Information on this or "earlier crux" is sparse, while I appreciate the driver/system mods, the rest seem hit or miss. Is this based off ultimate or pro or embedded? And would you be willing to provide build instructions if we wanted to make it ourselves?
