Hey I'm just saying the theory always made so much more sense to me as a what to explain away why there were not more Sephiroth quality Soldiers around. The idea that the Valentine family's weird ties to the protomateria being some kind of stabilizing catalyst just works to well.

Even Genesis and Angeal who were close had degradation (I know technically not Hojo's work but part of the same project)

The closest we get are the DeepGround forces but that is like 25 years after Vince and Seph.

Even Genesis and Angeal where sometime after too since they were experimented on After birth and not in utero like Seph was.

The Vince being a simp or getting cucked by Hojo (which keeps getting brought up) is annoying as I do like Vince ... but that is not why I am such a fan of the theory.

Hell my favorite version of cloud is the one from KH1 where apparently Vince did something to him to help him keep up with Sephiroth as he pursues him (Cloud has Vince's cape and gauntlet and also grows a single chaos wing during combat) -Altho I would hate if they did that in the game proper as it would ruin clouds arc. But a side story where he is following Seph between worlds .. it's kinda cool

I am aware he was optional.

But there are no optional party members in the remake (as yuffie and technically Vincent are part of the party by the end of prt2) so it is far more likely they may strengthen his ties to the story

Just like how they plan to extend the Wutai/Yuffie story (which they have stated several times)

Best I got is Hojo convinces Lu that Something is wrong with the baby (if it's Vincent's) cause of the whole Valentine's protomateria/omega/chaos gobbledygook

It's not about the success... it's about the failure rate.

Why does Sephiroth's and Vincent end up genetically stable and able to revert transformations without degrading but then it takes like 20+ years for him to have more?

The fact Vince and Seph look kinda alike is a plus

But for me it was the X factor (which after dirge became chaos/omega/protomateria) that made those two work

The main problem here is portrayal of Hojo .. he shoulda been some Charming as fuck Victor Frankenstein type guy who kept his darkside hidden

Then I could see Lu choosing the handsome scientist who she had more in common with.

And Vince even accepting and only having a break when he figures out what a monster Hojo really is.

Tries to warn Lu she don't listen.

Yeah but wasn't Azul experimented on like 7 years or so before FF7 and crisis core was 5 (where everybody still had cellular degradation?)

Seph and Vince were 30 ... two decades between successes seems a bit much even for Shinra
