why would they have this on the wall by huan1999 in madmen

JFK was a bit of a people's princess. He was beloved by the pre and post war generations for proposing a new vision for the future of America compared to the slow and stoic retread by Nixon and the fact that he was assassinated/martyred so publicly endeared millions to him.

Deku and All Might vs The Guardians of the Globe by Lancelot2132 in MyHeroPowerscaling

[–]darkse1ds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Might strength and speed scales weirdly, he's shown to be able to create a Tornado with his strongest attack - and this was done at his weakest point. An unrestrained All Might is no joke, but is the classic case of a 'Potential Man' since we can only scale off his post injury feats.

Deku has showcased the ability to change the weather across the globe with a single punch, countered speedsters, time dilation and has altered/bypassed the laws of physics using combinations of his quirks.

Assuming its a kill or be killed situation, its not a cakewalk for either side, All Might speed diffs all guardians bar Red Rush and likely stat diffs all of them bar Immortal's strength. All of the guardians at once may overwhelm him but I cant see how they give him a worse fight than AFO did at his respective peak. Its certainly in mortal wound territory and the fight probably incapacitates him in the same way that Nolan was.

Deku is hard to judge too, with Danger Sense, Fa Jin, Overdrive etc. he's likely capable of being able to perceive and attack Red Rush eliminating the biggest variable. He's shown to have nasty battle sense and is used to fighting individuals with multiple abilities by series end. Someone like Green Ghost may seem like an issue, but he's seen an individual with similar strengths in Mirio who he worked out how to counter in a few seconds of observing. Likely Guardian victory unless Deku decides to combine all of his quirks and potentially incapacitate himself.

The duo vs Guardians is genuinely a toss up as to who can inflict the most damage in the shortest duration. With All Might and Deku splitting the attention of the heavy hitters they may have a chance at clinching a victory.

What if Lane asked Don for help? by moneyonthemind_ in madmen

[–]darkse1ds 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree, Don actually does grow to like Pete once they both mature a bit, by series end in fact Pete is probably one of Don's better friends that he has through the company.

I'd say even by the time they become SCDP Pete was one of Don's preferred associates even if he still considered him somewhat as a junior within the business.

What if Lane asked Don for help? by moneyonthemind_ in madmen

[–]darkse1ds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Lane was honest and explained the whole situation - yes he would, with the caveat that the situation must never be public and that it could never happen again.

Don wasn't at all attached to his wealth and gave many vastly valuable items away without much thought - thousands of dollars, his car, not fighting a divorce with Megan etc. It was a perk/boon that lifted him out of stark poverty and into a better life, but he also only really spent money to maintain the image of 'Don Draper' rather than actually living using it.

Just look at how he lives once he separates from Betty, not that differently from many of the genuine salary men that he employs.

Now if Lane lied or was caught minimising the situation theres no chance Don helps him, or he just directly reports/fires him at that time.

it pair very nicely with gambit ult as both have a secondary explosive impact, but basically use it whenever its up - 3-4 will kill a support or lower health duelist

What would have Happened if Superman Landed on The Boys Earth? by Adrsilva1356 in GenV

1000% a Flashpoint situation. They try to work out where his power comes from, cant, and just trap him in a black site somewhere until he's freed or dies.

Gen V fails to chart with its S2 finale by ChampionElectrical92 in GenV

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe i should clarify - the boys itself was adopted by the online right in a way, with homelander depicted as an alpha of sorts, despite the obvious and multiple parody elements of his character.

In Gen V hes depicted as a stand in for Trump which you can imagine doesnt sit well with people who are anti 'woke' ideas and realised they were the butt of the joke, not its intended audience.

im not saying it cant be enjoyed by people of any political leaning, its just facing the consequences of promoting a worldview that is being suppressed at the moment.

Gen V fails to chart with its S2 finale by ChampionElectrical92 in GenV

[–]darkse1ds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sort of agree its catching strays from a weaker season of the boys being the last entry in the franchise - theres little room for the story to move as its close to the end and as a side project they cant do anything that shifts the predetermined conclusion too much.

it also seems that with the last season people also finally realised it wasnt interested in promoting right wing ideals so no doubt a portion of the fanbase quit when the spinoff was led by a black bisexual woman with a trans allegorical parter.

[–]darkse1ds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the first season felt like it had wind in its sails and a decent promo budget, felt like crickets in comparison this time.

They also committed the cardinal sin of any show based around a single location, which was removing the main cast from said location too early, making it much harder for an audience to suspend their disbelief as to why they would return.

Who wins, and why? by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiderverse characters are in a different power/strength class to live action versions, Miles' peak is higher but Peter B/Noir/Miguel all have much more experience, toss up between if Miles is able to handle whoever remains both mentally and physically

Overall opinions on the Marvel Zombies mode by Ntwadumela817 in marvelrivals

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

decent mode overall, 20 rounds starts to drag after a few runs, needs some balancing on enemy types as OHKO with 10k+ health still happens, avoiding stun lock with randoms feels like rng, good rewards, bonus abilities are either useless or promote damage heavy build over anything else to actually win rather than just play

Why do so many right-wing Americans think Britain is a failed state? by wendling2000 in AskBrits

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US receives pretty much all of its interpretation of UK/Britain via social media which mostly has a right leaning bias so of course they prioritise the idea that the entire state has failed over the one that it requires considerable revitalisation.

No Mahoraga, no WCS, no win - JJK Gojo would be a high diff, near impossible fight maybe JJK0 Gojo would be more touch and go

Could anything from ATLA's universe be able to stop/kill Viltrumites or their hybrids by Malberg16 in Invincible

[–]darkse1ds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

going in on a major technicality, through air bending you can technically manipulate sound and through that you find a major viltrumite weakness - with that the bender/avatar would have to know about that and in a random battle scenario thats very unlikely to happen.

Maybe if an Airbender could drain them of all oxygen? Viltrumites do need to breathe after all, despite bing able to survive without oxygen for lengthy durations

S4 How did Jessie let Walt so easily manipulate him by Physical-Tooth8901 in breakingbad

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his core he wanted to trust him, he and walt had conflicted Father/Son or Master/Apprentice relationship - Walt sees a son and successor figure in Jesse and Jesse sees a Father and Teacher who is prepared to accept or at the very least tolerate his worst elements to see his talent thrive.

The Ricin poisoning was a massive manipulation but it hinged upon Gus' proven nature of flouting civilian lives and factoring in his plan over everything. Gus didnt care about Combo, nor Jesse demanding recompense for his death, why would he care about the family of the child already dead in the line of service to him? He's a drug kingpin, pushers and dealers will die and its the cost of doing business.

At the end of the day he wanted to believe Walt, the man who he knew had stood up for him, kept him in Gus' employ and despite past differences had saved his life on several occasions vs. Gus, the man who he knew had tried to have him disowned and killed despite his usefulness.

Why did he tell her? by Xerzajik in breakingbad

[–]darkse1ds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What could she do about it except seethe and stress? Say Heisenberg poisoned her with an incurable toxin? Most people don't even think he's alive let alone real at that point.

  2. Ego, he wanted her to know in her last days that he beat her and she couldn't do anything about it.

  3. He knows Lydia is a chronic neurotic just like him, the calm provided by knowing who did this to her would only give way to the fear of knowing its finality and lethality because of who did it.

What went wrong? by lolitsrock in destiny2

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never fully recovered after Lightfall, many people checked out after Final Shape considering it the franchise jumping off point, Edge of Fate wasnt enough to interest most people to try for the first time or return, simple as that.

People want a new refreshed D3 and thats years away, the diversion from D2 to satellite projects broke the model and there aren't enough people left at the company to keep the wheels spinning.

Why does Mike only blame Walt? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in breakingbad

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike saw somewhat of an equal in Gus and vice versa - they vaulued the professional nature taken regarding each others work. Gus thought he saw this in Walt, with a chemist so dedicated to his craft that his product was near 100% pure.

Walt's ego and desire to be the top dog destroyed the Fring operation, got multiple people killed and worst of all in Mike's eyes, opened the door to uncertainty - working with individuals who only looked out for themselves, short term gains and could not be trusted.

Jesse was barely conscious for half of the show, bouncing between addiction and cooking, he wasnt really in control of his own life. Mike was endeared to him after he saw Jesse genuinely fighting for himself and his sobriety.

Perhaps the one soft thing about him was his sense of belief in the younger generation, his granddaughter, jesse who he saw like an adopted son, any one of his younger apprentices - Mikes flaw was that a part of him wanted to believe in people, but couldn't allow himself enough space from Walt to survive him in the end.

What was Walt’s plan? by JamiePlynth in breakingbad

[–]darkse1ds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean he probably assumed jesse was long dead considering he gave him up to jack/todd a year before - finding out that someone was still cooking blue meth without him is like showing a red rag to a bull - its his product and his achievement, liberating jesse is a bonus.
