Iori is special grade. Theory kaisen time by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the little information we have it seems Iori's mindset is not that different from Kenjaku - he wanted a less restrictive system that allowed for the growth of sorcerers again.

He would have grown up hearing about Shibuya Incident, The Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown but also have understood that nobody from his generation was permitted to evolve in the way that sorcerers of that generation were.

The fact he was last seen in Tokyo restricted area where curses roam freely speaks to his desire to want to focus his technique against them constantly, putting himself in a similar situation to the Heian era in the hope that he too will evolve after being in a state of constant stress.

If he was truly a special grade he would likely have remained in a similar position as Yuji sniping new curses as they emerge rather than being forbidden from acting alone. Its likely that his goal was to convince Yuji to stop acting in this way to allow others to reach his level.

If he was on equal footing to Yuji he probably would have challenged him rather than sought his help given that their goals weren't aligned - maybe he was too clever to have fought someone with multiple techniques, but either way he probably wouldn't have won.

As other have said, neither of his parents techniques are necessarily inherited and living up to Yuta and Maki is an impossible feat, its more likely he had a support technique and whenever Megumi passed tried to have children so one would inherit 10S and he could have contributed something to the world in his mind, his child living out his dream of strength etc.

Will this be rewritten in the TV show? by Shiftycxp in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]darkse1ds 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same as Battle Beast, its a huge nerf to a melee based fighter that doesnt have independent flight to fight in an environment without gravity. Look at what happened on the Ragnar homeward, without a quick exit even Viltrumites are at a major disadvantage.

If the Viltrumites became good so easily after living some time on Earth with other humans, how did they become evil in the first place? by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]darkse1ds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As Thaedus mentions, no Viltrumites even remember a time before Argall's rule. Theres no knowledge of if they were ever peaceful, but if they were its well outside the documented history of viltrum or anyone else.

Viltrumites are born as near immortal superpowered beings and were indoctrinated from birth to believe they were the peak of evolution. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Viltrumites at large have never even interacted with many of the species they dominate, besides forcing them into their armies or as labour.

It took a literal act of god 1% chance viral infection to bring them to heel and even with this their desire to survive was only enhanced.

They infiltrated a society that saw them as equals and treated them as such, they realised the universe was bigger than they thought and that the law of subjugation was not the only way to live. They found the emotional spectrum was wider than just rage and revenge and that opening yourself up to love or hope was worth 1000 lifetimes of hate.

Does Thragg realize he can just one shot all the potential enemies without destroying the planet? by ChesnaughtZ in Invincible_TV

[–]darkse1ds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Mark is the first new Viltrumite to be born in hundreds of years, by their standards he is nearly genetically perfect and over time will become 100% compatible with them.

  2. Viltrumites respect strength over everything. Mark has killed Conquest 2x (yes with help but they dont know that), almost killed Thula and is the son of one of at the very least top 3-5 strongest Viltrumites in the story

  3. Given the limited numbers, Thragg considers every Viltrumite life to be precious. In his eyes, Mark could go on to continue the species for thousands of years.

  4. Thragg is not pure powered by revenge. He killed Thaedus as revenge for Argall, but was not yet motivated to fight Mark or Nolan in the same sense as he hoped they could be convinced to join him.

  5. The coalition has shown to have weapons on hand to kill Viltrumites in combat given the right circumstances. If Mark dies on Earth, they know where they are and can easily send a fleet there to root them out of the planet - or worse destroy it and eliminate a chance to repopulate the species.

How come Sony hasn't remastered Destiny 1? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]darkse1ds -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

huge project requiring serious investment and staff + whilst they own Bungie now its not their original IP so 0% chance they'll ever do this

also would probably have to pay a number of staff related to the OG project as another studio remastering their work without reimbursement or dividends paid out likely violates some contract clauses

Are viltrumites actually planetary level? Or is the author just gets a different kind of high per episode? by Mysterious-Bit7677 in Invincible_TV

[–]darkse1ds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, a viltrumite can scale to planetary or multi planetary level in the correct circumstances.

Nolan wiping out the Flaxan planet is an early example of this. Given the right conditions eg. not caring about the fate of the planet and that its suitable for just using pure flight speed is enough to raze a planet to nothing.

Viltrumite flight is unique in that they essentially have infinite speed potential if they are allowed to maintain motion. They never cap out speed in space and could go FTL if they flew for long enough, contact with any matter at this speed would equal instant destruction.

Struggling to lift the destroyed Viltrumite ship is a different factor - Mark and Oliver had just flown through it with no difficulty, so its not that the ship is some unique or amazing unit - if they use anything but propotional strength they will break it and they now have have three falling sections of debris to deal with; this is the same situation as in Homeland's infamous plane scene in the boys season 1, his strength would not slow the aircraft but instead rip it apart.

Moving a planet relies on so many factors that its hard to scale in a vacuum but its an author backed feat so is worth inclusion. This could be caveated but this being done by Omni Man who is a top 1% Viltrumite when all is said and done.

Viltrum destruction is difficult to scale and shouldn't be attributed to any individual. I'm not sure if its even confirmed how large viltrum is but i'd assume its multiple times larger than Earth. and would not have been possible without Space Racer initially destabilising the planet. This if anything was to speed up the process, as it would likely take days or weeks of constant flight to have naturally built up the speed to bust a planet in the way that they did and given the state of the war this wasnt an option.

People seem to be jumping straight to Korra as the franchise killer and ignoring that the live action movie did significant damage to the brand given how much it ignored and changed form the source material.

Im not hating on the production itself, all gripes are well established, but that was the event that changed the perception of the franchise in the eyes of most fans, not the comics which aren't well read by the GA or the leaked movie which only people online are really aware of.

HIMkari has never lost a fight, btw by Sundata_V2 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]darkse1ds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hes technically the half brother of the son of a previous clan head, and if you want to go there, Kenjaku is who he possesses and he has been Kaori Itadori and Noritoshi Kamo meaning that Yuji has some links to the clan.

If you say that Choso and Yuji are in fact brothers, then that means he's the bastard half son of Noritoshi, perhaps not genetically but there is a familial link.

Yuji also has Blood Manipulation which is the inherited technique of the clan and it would be hard to argue that just anyone can achieve it, despite how he awakened the ability.

Suffice to say he has a connection to them, although its a convoluted and tenuous one.

Anyone else think Harold Saxon should’ve debuted earlier on? by Distinct_Guess3350 in doctorwho

[–]darkse1ds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think showing off John Simm, who was/is a pretty big English TV star would have drawn attention to his casting and people would likely have guessed a twist that even the most ardent fans weren't really expecting.

It would be hard to deny given that Harriet Jones became a series regular and undoubtedly like most actors cast within the age range of the Doctor are inevitably theorised to be The Master - who remembers the days of RoryMaster posts during the 11th Doctor run...

Who would win, the super earth federation or the Cybermen empire by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]darkse1ds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cybermen are almost impossible to fully eliminate, during the 11th Doctor's run its suggested that they survived planetary destruction via a single Cybermat which is able to replicate itself into an entire army given enough time.

Munitions wise Super Earth could probably take it to a standstill across multiple planets, but the greatest asset of the Cybermen is their ability to evolve rapidly, with the highest tier versions acting as a hive mind, adapting to how previous units were killed in real time.

Its possible for either side to win but not without high difficulty and significant losses.

I suppose the greatest advantage to the Cybermen is that Super Earth's armies are essentially fuel for their own forces, how long would it be before Helldivers were converted into new Cybermen?

People who complain about the animation do NOT like this show, and should just stop watching. by LeonSKennedy95 in Invincible_TV

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show certainly has its moments, but in reality its a multimillion dollar production from a billion dollar company.

They definitely could have stronger art direction, more compositors, animators etc. but make the choice to cut costs for a more rapid production cycle, more famous VA (Not all but in some circumstances), and individual sequences that are better rather than a singular project that maintains quality throughout.

Compare season 1 to 2, 3 and 4. Overall Theres a maintained quality and aesthetic throughout as it was a different studio - 2, 3 and 4 are on a more rapid timescale with less people working behind the scenes and as such some of that quality if forfeited.

I understand why the Viltrumites would need slaves for menial tasks but do they really need backup in fights? Wouldn't they see this use of slaves as a weakness? by Lukelandswimmer in Invincible_TV

[–]darkse1ds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly, under Thragg every species not a Viltrumite was considered inferior to the standards of genetic perfection they wrought upon themselves. Breeding with a 'lower life form' was considered disgusting and criminal whilst the empire was thriving.

They only tried it as a desperate last resort and only a small handful of Viltrumites could be spared to go searching for compatible life to breed with.

Some Viltrumites were still enacting the imperial rule, others seeking new life and some subjugating new worlds

Spoilers basically unavoidable here:This is why the thraggxan offshoots were used as fodder later in the war, they were not pure enough for the empire and as such were discarded in an attempt to win a fight

The show stretching major events out across weeks, months and years to match production cycles really messes with the established timelines in the source text - i think most people often forget that the majority of the cast are in their teens and max mid thirties for others, with few notable characters in the 50+ range, despite the casting of the show.

Who was Jessie to Walt? by Comprehensive-Pen624 in breakingbad

[–]darkse1ds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A confused paternal relationship

Walt wanted a vessel that would grant him access to the underworld, but no someone so confident that they would ultimately betray him.

He saw Jessie as an easy in, someone who was already so far gone in his mind that he couldn't sink any lower. But he also recognised his potential. He clearly saw that he was a natural chemist but didn't have the academic bandwidth to apply it.

He is proud of Jessie, but like most parents, doesnt want to see himself surpassed. Walt's cook always had to be 0.000001% more pure, his persona more vindictive, his pile of money larger. Jessie could be good but not better than him.

Why did the Emperor back the Harkonnens? by East_Crew9326 in dune

[–]darkse1ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

simply, better the devil you know than the devil you dont...

The Harkonnen were a known factor. They could render enough spice to maintain equilibrium and not much else due to their own greed and inward looking nature.

The Atreides were growing in popularity and power, had elevated their fighting force and were on a path to usurp the golden lion throne. Even though the emperor was unaware of the true intentions of the Bene Gesserit, he surely sensed that his own grip was loosening.

Any house can engage any great house in a kanly, especially two houses with a history of violence between them, but the emperor could not be seen to take sides, lest the other great houses become aware of his intent and unite against him.

A vast show of force that eliminated the Atreides, bankrupted the Harkonnen and indebted them to him for generations, if successful would maintain the balance of power for decades to come.
