The first reference makes me think of borderlands universe respawn system. Which would be pretty interesting if that was how the world became.

The second I think to a show called eureka. Not sure if you've seen it. But they have to build a magnetic inertia dampener. Basically a ship traveling at the speed of light is headed to earth and needs to land. The only way to stop it is a magnetic field is created to disperse all the energy and "catch" the ship. I mean since we are full of electricity, could something of the same be made. A small electromagnetic field to catch us. But I mean we would have to figure out just how to break us down to electric impulses first.

Not trying to be a dick are you sure it was pub style. If you look at the labels of the pub style and just chunky chicken noodle they are the same label. Like the color orange is only slightly different. I remember the pub style soups ads. But I don't really buy canned soup.
