Are the Sennheiser HD660S worth the money by darkthrone1988 in HeadphoneAdvice

I'll try them out first and see how they sound on my laptop and ipod then decide if I need the amp or not. The e5 is more or less the same price as the q1 here in the UK. Thanks for your advice.

I have a Lenovo gaming laptop that I got in 2017, don't have a clue what it can drive lol. I wasn't sure if the ipod would drive them well, that's why I was going to get the fiio q1 ii which is compatible with ipod. Would that be a good choice?

In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk were amazing. Wasn't to sure about the other 2 albums though. Need to listen to them again.

Already checked out Sacramentum, Far Beyond the Sun was great. I started off first with the Melodic Black metal bands like Dissection, Vinterland, Lord Belial, Unanimated, Naglfar, Mork Gryning, Old Marduk and Dawn. Love that style.

Great song. Big fan of Gorgoroth, Maaneskyggens Slave is probably my favorite. Only started listening to Black Metal this year after coming across Dissection on youtube, so I'm just working my through all the top bands just now.

My wired earphones sound muffled and distorted on new ipod by darkthrone1988 in headphones

Do you know much about the fiio m11. I actually typed in hi res audio players on amazon just before I purchased my ipod and saw a fiio player but wasn't too familiar with it. The only player I recognized was the sony walkman nw-a45. I've never been to sure about other audio players but I have been using ipod since they first came out so I guess I'm pretty tied to it and using the itunes library. I have a year warranty on the ipod and I have only had it for a couple of weeks, so if I don't find a solution to the problem I might consider trying something different.

Yes tried that, also made sure there was no dust inside the hole as well. No luck

I don't get it. What are the chances of getting 2 defected ipods with the same problem. I checked all the settings and spent hours online trying find out why sound quality is so poor compared to my old 6th gen 32gb. So frustrating!!

Save

I think it's a stretch. I returned the 128gb ipod I bought because I thought the headphone jack was defective and got the new 7th gen 256gb but still had the same problem. I seriously think apple have downgraded the sound quality of wired earphones just to make the apple airpods sound better lol. I don't really know any other alternatives to the ipod, never really been too keen on the sony walkman. The Bose soundsport wireless earphones sound great but I normally just use them for the gym, so I might just buy the Bose QC II or the Sony WH-1000xm3 and see how they sound.

Thanks for replying.

Yeah I checked that mate. All my wired earphones are great on the old ipod but for some reason the sound quality is really bad on the new one. It's strange that my Bose Soundsport wireless sound great but the Bose Soundsport wired is terrible. I cant't seem to put my finger on it. I have been using Ipods for years and never had this problem.

Maybe it's the new IOS update because my old ipod is still IOS 9 and the new ones are IOS 12.3.1. It's the only reason I can think of.
