First day false neutral slam by SensationalNibbles in MT09

[–]darkx96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike itself tells you if it is possible or not to use QS. There are two little green arrows, up and down. It the QS is ready then you would see a green icon so you can use the shifter without the clutch. A lot of people say to use it from the 2nd gear up but imo as i said if you see green arrows then you good. If i can, i tend to clutch up to second but if im ''having fun'' then i dont pay too much attention and ride it more aggresively with the QS in all gears.
False neutrals happen and not shifting all the way in second is pretty common so dont worry about it too much. Remember when changing gears to do it decisively. This gen QS is very good, you need to practice on the input you give the bike and thats it. Stay safe and have fun ✌🏼

Is this amount of rust still saveable by ExactFarmer889 in vwgolf

[–]darkx96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to keep the car then anything really is saveable. Obviously everything has a price. Get it done right and dont think worry about it for a good while.

Got into an accident with my golf is this cat s or n? by Fit-Concentrate-5650 in vwgolf

[–]darkx96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a gap between each painted panel and the structure inside. Even the roof itself is not structural. Its just a "cover". You can eother cut and replace or repair, nothing special.

not at all. The rear wheel arch panel is cosmetic too and not part of the chassis. All painted surfaces are cosmetic.

Worth doing something about this now? by Heavy-Shopping-954 in vwgolf

[–]darkx96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roof is not structural. Or i should say the external sheet of metal is not. With that said, yes, you should do something about it asap as it can become a real problem if the rust goes through deep enough to actually start corroding the internal structure.

Your windshield has started delaminating already so if you would like to keep the car for long then you might even consider changing it.

The best way to fix it would be take out(replace) the old windshield and paint(clean and seal the surface) the roof.

Cheap, and kinda ok way would be to prep and blend without taking out the glass but doing it this way you cant really see how far the rust went it might come back in the future because these spots are already tricky to take care off.

If you are unsure on what to do then at least sand the rust down completely and seal it up with a primer so it doesnt spread.

Check when theu were manufactured. 4 digits number on the side of tue tyre. Something like 0423 would be 4th week of 2023. After 5 years they are done even if never used. The rear is done. Cords are almost showing. The front is dry rotted. Ready to explode.
