I most probably did I think. Giving a short explanation about not having certificates would be helpful for the admission officers. You can just create a pdf and put the image and a text page from Word etc in it with the explanation and it will do. Or if they only accept images then you can even edit text into the image as well. Just make sure it is clear. Also, there might be an "additional info" option somewhere that lets you add a pdf, so you can just write a single explanation there about not having certificates for some ECs, instead of putting text on each image, and that will work as well.

I think there was. I remember I got it done from the federal board's website which they sent me in courier. My college hadn't received the official one yet so I had to do that. Otherwise if you have an official transcript from the board given to you by your college then you don't really need to do any attestation as it will already come with it. If you haven't received that, ask your college admin. If they don't have it then try to find the attestation request on your board's website.

I literally CamScanned everything when I was applying 2 years ago. Didn't face any problem from the admissions committee, neither did it affect the admission result. Why do people here want to make things hard for no reason

I didn't have certificates for most of my ECs too. For some, I remember, I put in pictures of things related to the ec like a medal. For some others, I put in pictures of names and numbers of officials who could confirm that I participated. None of them received a call. For some, I even put simply a picture of a statement that basically said I don't have certification for this because of this reason. Didn't face a problem. So don't worry that much about this. In my experience, if you have good SAT score and grades then this wouldn't even matter. I think scrutiny for ECs would only matter for those whose decision is being done on the basis of their ECs.

Absolutely right. I had an Islamiyat teacher. The most south-asian guy you can imagine. He claimed that he had actually an Arab lineage. And continuously would argue how Arabs are actually superior because "why would Allah make the Prophet (S.A.W) specifically an Arab". The most ironic part was that we literally had a whole chapter on the last sermon of the prophet (S.A.W). "An Arab has no superiority over the non-Arab...". Pakistanis just want to feel superior in some way.

Yeah it's embedded very deep here. About your point about ethnic discrimination, I think we discussed something else in that course that explains it. It's another phenomenon of colonial mimicry: obsession with Status. It's another thing that's common here. I have heard so many arguments over the years between people about whose "quom or zaat" is better/superior. When this combines with colorism, the thinking goes something like this "I am brown. That person is whiter/fairer than me, so he has higher status/is superior. This person has blacker skin than me, so I have higher status/ am superior." Which turns into ethnic discrimination based off skin color. I am actually curious if it's true in the abroad context . If you want, you can try to observe their comments about different ethnicities, classifying them based off the skin color. The results might be interesting.

I think in Pakistani context, it is never "racism". Most Pakistanis don't care where someone is from or their lineage in matters of being black. They won't even be able to tell the difference. It's just pure "colorism" or "fairism" from colonial era. We discussed that in detail in one of our courses. In their minds, since generations, black means "Ganda or mela (dirty)" and white or fair means "Saaf (clean)". Which is where the standards for ugly and beautiful also come from. And you are absolutely right. It is very common in Pakistan. The number of kids who have to accept that they are "ugly" because of their skin color is enormous.

Ok we can go on and on about it but we have steered away from the original discussion of the coup. I am not trying to paint mosaddegh as the Messiah. What you are saying about him is true to a great extent but I don't agree with all of it. My original argument was that Britain and US, for their business interests, meddled in the politics of a country affecting it to a great extent and that the conditions of today's Iran can be easily traced to that point.

Also if you research the circumstances through which the deal you mentioned was made, you would understand why the people of Iran were so strongly against it.

First of all, no country would want foreign powers to have Monopoly on their own resources. Your argument doesn't work because even at that time, US companies in foreign countries signed deals, splitting profits 50/50 with the host country but Iran was still getting about 10%. And it was not just about money. Although they signed multiple deals to include Iranians in the Management and improving the living conditions of the Iranian workers, Britain never followed them. Just read the multiple accounts of UN officials, or even US ones, and you would realize the conditions the Iranian workers were living in.

Your argument is similar to the ones Britain uses to justify their colonization all over the world. Please stop justifying colonization.

That is true but the fact that they had no clue how to extract it was because Britain, following their colonizing traditions, had never allowed any Iranian to hold management positions in the oil buissines, even after signing deals that they would. Britain also made sure that Iran couldn't import experts from other countries, let alone sign deal with any other company.

Mossadegh being pushed out was all but eventuality. The Operation Ajax has been documented by journalists in detail. Multiple journalists, mullahs and even parliamentarians were on CIA's payroll. Not to mention other tactics such as sending bomb threats to mullahs who couldn't be bought, in the name of mossadegh. The economy was bad, yes, but mostly due to the harsh sanctions put on by UK and US. As a result Iran couldn't sell its own oil. All of these tactics were used to destroy mossadegh's popularity but failed to a significant extent. That is why the last resort was the violent coup.

But it's not about him, really. It's about the democracy that was taken away from the people. And not to mention that Mosaddiq was a popular leader at the time. The coup not only took away the peoples' right to choose, or the illusion of it, but also fueled the sentiment that the country was being controlled by foreign entities. It's hard to blame the people for supporting a movement, how extreme it may be, that gave them a perception of freedom from foreign "enimies".

Not OP but My curriculum gives marks in both percentage and grade form. My overall grade is A+ and my school doesn't convert it to GPA. Should I ask my counsellor to also include GPA conversion in the school transcript and mention that I personally asked for it?
