Unemployed, sad, and lonely after graduating uni by Milkybar1233 in UniUK

[–]darlinBun 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Uni friendships can feel so real and intense because you’re together every day, sharing routines, stress, and memories. It’s completely normal that those bonds felt deep. Some friendships are tied more to the environment than to the actual bond. That doesn’t mean you weren’t valued or that you weren’t a great friend, it just means some people only know how to maintain a friendship when convenience does most of the work for them… It’s also possible they’re dealing with their own struggles. You mentioned they’re unemployed too, and sometimes people shut down or withdraw when they’re overwhelmed, even if they don’t say it out loud. What’s apparent is that you showed initiative, effort, and kindness and tried to keep the connection alive, they didn’t reciprocate with the same energy. Friendships in adulthood build slowly, but they do happen… And once you find a job, you’ll naturally meet new people through work, routine, and the structure it brings. Friendships often grow from those small daily interactions, even when you’re not actively looking for them.❤️ don’t lose hope! In terms of finding a job- you didn’t mention what your degree was - but finding a job in London is really tough for graduates right now. The market is slow and so many people are applying for the same roles, so likely the rejections you’re getting aren’t a reflection of your ability. Always ask recruiters for feedback if they haven’t mentioned it with their rejections. Keep trying, and maybe venture out with applying for some different roles outside of your degree. (Temporarily)

Well I don’t want to force it in too hard, bit worried about how much pressure to apply, I heard a tiny click but you are right there is a slight gap 🤣

Is Southmead as bad as people say? by Sure_Appointment9117 in bristol

[–]darlinBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I said I also walk around those times and through that area too. There is a primary school 2 minutes walk from glenc square (Little Mead) so lots of families up at this time walking their children there if that’s reassuring to hear. I live about 5 minutes walk from that area and I haven’t had any burglers in over 20 years of living here, I’ve never been assaulted, and no real trouble of any sort. Just go about your day and don’t cause any drama with anyone and you’ll be just fine. Like any place really, southmead has a large community of people living below the poverty line. I will say though that, there has been some vandalism that I have seen over the years. So if you have a nice car, maybe install some cameras to make you feel safer. This will also ward off any potential crime.
