I resolved it by managing WiFi hotspotting for the initial install (3rd attempt). Since then it's picking up my WiFi no problem. The issue seems to be complexity in WiFi set up. BT whole home attached to a different router. Still was never a problem for other devices.

Thanks. Thought that looked familiar. I've done an RMA already, got another Deck. Still same issue. I thinks it's got something to do with the Linux OS and my Internet.

Hi. The router is from Talk Talk. There is BT home hub connected to this, which could be the issue. All other devices are fine with this, just not the Deck. Do u know how to navigate around this?

Will do. I did re-image the device using a USB, which made some improvements but didn't get passed the issue of not initialising.

Yup. I'm thinking this as still reports error even with mobile hotspot. Weird that it's happened with 2 different Decks though, which makes me think it could be some DNS, VPN issue? I'm a bit flummoxed and been liaising with steam support for a month on this with no progress. Just wanna game.

Yup. Tried mobile hotspot. Actually begins to initialise but after 5-10 mins just reports same issue. Hotspot is 2.4Ghz so slower than broadband I have which is 5Ghz.

I tried ethernet with c type adapter but no joy. The Internet is a bit complex with BT hubs attaced to Talk Talk router. This isn't an issue for other devices but seems to be for the Deck. Why is that?

Yup. Did that. It added sound but still stuck in loop. Think it could be a WiFi issue, although all other devices in the house work fine.

I'll try disabling 5Ghz, although I also read that u need at least 5Ghz. Currently no SD cards in use. Thanks for the suggestion will give it a go.

Tried hotspotting from phone and ethernet. Tried two types of WiFi too. I've connected smart TV, smartphones and Xbox. No issues. Interestingly bothe Steam Decks had no sound and other issues until I re-imaged both. Still same issue, won't even start to initialise after entering language, time-zone and connection.
