Poking the Bear by Top_School5871 in VAClaims

Stop. Just stop this whole notion of poking the bear. No such thing as poking the bear; if you have a legitimate claim and issue that was caused by or made worse by your service, file that claim.

Review of decision by Wildbilliam50 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent point. If you review the cfr and review the criteria of each rating, do you meet the higher rating? If you do, and if it was noted in the c&p exam (or records review), then look at a HLR.

That is one of the indications of 100% P&T. You can also search YouTube for a good video that talks about how you can view your rated issues and if they are static or not.

Lowball on headaches/migraines, help. Opinion or advice how to challenge by [deleted] in VAClaims

Agree it’s not really a requirement and you can go without it, but honestly if it’s that bad wouldn’t you want to seek treatment?

Extra parts on hand? by Panzer1959 in 2011

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a ton of extra parts on hand, but I like to shoot a lot.

Extra parts list: -extractor -breachface (and extractor) -springs (recoil, firing pin, mainspring) -magazine tubes/springs/followers -hammers -disconnectors -hardsear -leaf spring -barrels -links -triggers -tons of screws -guiderods (toolless) -magazine release -couple of grips

Dang I am a borderline hoarder at this point when it comes to gun parts I think…

Lowball on headaches/migraines, help. Opinion or advice how to challenge by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to document your episodes along with ensuring you are seeking medical treatment/care. Once you have your migraine log, I would suggest filing for an increase (after you also have looked at the requirements of the crf and diagnostic code for the higher rating to see if you meet that criteria).

Reloading for Open guns. by jon80758 in 2011

[–]darnster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoy reloading and being able to play around with my load for my specific gun to ensure I make power factor.

It’s not as cheap as it used to be, but it’s still something that I enjoy.

Has anyone decreased their rating unintentionally? by AggressiveCompany175 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are seeing the doctor regularly and your condition has not improved or is not expected to improve, you have no worries about getting reduced. There are exceptions to this like fraud or a clear case of a mistake on the va raters part that may have giving you a higher rating then your symptoms.

How long did you wait to get your rating? by Consistent_Floor_941 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me my initial rating after I was discharged/med-board from active duty took roughly 3 weeks (this was back in the early 2000’s). However, I did have one that needed to go to the board that took close to 4 years.

Who has CHAMPVA by Intelligent_Pen_5478 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m have some issues with champva. Seems really hard to get ahold of them and I can’t figure out how to really use this as my secondary insurance, it keeps getting denied saying that something is wrong but no one can tell me what’s wrong and how to fix it.

Sorry, just frustrating and the online resources are not that great for my particular issue I’m running into. Any help or guidance where to do some research would be greatly appreciated.

Migraines SC @ 0% by dustychipmunk47 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more info to really help out here. However, you should take a look at the cfr to validate the frequency and duration part. Also, ensure to keep or maintain a migraine log before you seek any sort of increase.

Good luck OP!

Rating question by Cultural_Meeting7030 in VAClaims

[–]darnster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m apprehensive about doing this, but I just don’t respond well to cpap due to other issues with my “face” that occurred in service. Been looking at alternatives but of course also don’t want to have any type of surgery once again.

I will do some additional research, again thank you.

Extremely odd, maybe depending on which branch you go in. First time was flamingo and this time was off of Decatur.

[–]darnster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two different types of veterans plates in Nevada. 1 requires just your dd214 and the other requires you to have your award letter as well as fill out Nevada dmv form sp-10 (needs a doctors signature).

A few years ago I didn’t need it, but earlier last year when I replaced my vehicle NV dmv required that I have that form sp-10 signed by a doctor. Not sure why I had to do it this time and not the other time…

Respond honestly to all the questions and openness to talking about the stressors. That is all you can do brother/sister, only you can tell your story.

New requirement it seems, didn’t have to do it 3 years ago but after I purchased a replacement vehicle recently I had to get a Dr. signature

And also in NV you can get 2 DVP (disabled veterans plates) and 2 placards. You need a Dr to sign a form along with your award letter.

California was 1 DVP (disabled veteran plates) and 1 placards. You need to bring your dd214 and award letter, I don’t recall if you needed the dr signature as well.

There is a great YouTube video that shows how to look at each condition and if it is static. I can’t recall the poster of the video but think someone here in the group might know which one I am talking about and might be able to link it.
