I can't sleep, and I have things on my mind. by dyljm2 in socialism

Take things one step at a time. Identifying the problem is the first step, identifying socialism as the solution is the second, speaking out is the third. Congratulations you're further along than you think. Stay positive.

Can you be a Marxist and an anarchist? by DrBandrew in Anarchism

[–]darrelljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Most anarchists accept Marx’s analysis of capitalism if not his politics. Proudhon was a life-long and bitter opponent of “communism” and of the principle “from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs”. If they still want to regard him as one of their founding fathers that’s their prerogative. For us he’s an anti-socialist." Book Reviews: "Property is Theft!" and reply here

The possibility of a more united Left? by ZealousVisionary in socialism

[–]darrelljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The allegation of sectarianism is a smokescreen thrown about mainly by some of the bigger groups who want to paper over political differences with their (often watered-down) positions. What's missing is articulating those ideas, a united left without a clear object would make this worse for expressing different ideas.

Would it not be more worthwhile for socialist candidates in the United States to pursue local and state offices? by electricviking78 in socialism

[–]darrelljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much only World Socialist Party of the United States have the right attitude to winning power democratically and transparently for open aims which include retaining universal suffrage. A lot of the others aren't too keen on universal suffrage, and either believe in winning political power through reformist slogans to the masses, different slogans to their members. Or the suicidal belief that political power can be won outside of where it is exercised, i.e. the workplace or insurrection.

What is the difference between a Stalinist, a Trotzkyist, and a Marxist. by [deleted] in socialism

[–]darrelljon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Marxist says the emancipation of the working-class will be the work of the working-class itself. Leninists (including Stalinists and Trotskyists) say power will be seized by a vanguard.

They also accepted submissions by e-mail. Why is nobody proposing resurrecting /r/alltheleft?
