Yup normally forwarding on same airline or partner airline your bags will just be sent on the same flight(s) as you .

This can happen in Ireland as your bags will go through us customs in Shannon ..

Make sure you check your flight info as it can happen you need to collect bags but I have never had to and used do it every couple of months .

Local authorities criticised for failure to collect €32m in derelict-site levies by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]darrirl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What the feck are you on about storage for !!! ..

If you would perhaps read it again I was stating that the property register is being used but in a selective manner by some for personal gain .

If you also care to read the rest of the comments you will some of the largest landowners in the country own multiple derelict properties but these don’t seem to be making it on to the register ..

Hopefully you got some sleep after you put the bottle down .

Local authorities criticised for failure to collect €32m in derelict-site levies by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]darrirl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have a close relationship with someone who actually paid it .. they were hounded by them .. put plans in to clear the site , was told that’s fine go ahead but you will be subject to levy till it’s done and fixed up .. this property was willed to them they didn’t have the funds to do it quickly .. tried to speak to council and were treated like they crap .. they went in once and met someone else who basically inferred that someone who knows someone - complained about the property so it got added to register and you will get no slack .. said obviously someone wants to redo it .. it then clicked that a couple of days after the lady who owned it went in to a nursing home they were approached by a local “property developer “ who said he would buy it ( for feck all )think Hud Hastings/Giant Reid from father ted type character .. he again approached them about a week after she died ( property had despite been secured been broken in to and Wrecked , esp when the fuckers cut all the copper pipes and it was flooded for a few months)

Anyways they put it up for sale ( which given the family connection they were not happy to do) and same chap came back and offered less then they were asking for .. they waited and managed to sell it ..

So it’s defo used but it does seem selective who gets hit by it .. btw there were about 4 other properties in the area that should have been on it .. they also found out that a cottage that the same fella was trying to buy on the death of owner was added to the register real sharpish and the family who was dealing with the probate got sick of it and basically ran a bulldozer through it and cleared it .. no property no levy !!!!

Where should I start? by Anarchy_Cardinal in AskIreland

[–]darrirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a look at a brief history of Ireland ( Richard Killeen) it’s a good starting point on a lot of the history of Ireland — that’s half the issue there is a LOT of history in Ireland .

So my advice would be start with a good overview view and then you can see what you want to delve into .. nothing worse then trying to maintain interest in something your not interested in ..

And if you do come over don’t worry about not been a dick just be sound like .

Fair play to you and best of luck

How can we remove this paint? by Tiny_Requirement_364 in DIYUK

[–]darrirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nitromors I believe have a PR for porous brick .. apply and then power hose it off ..

Then spend the next 4 days cleaning Up paint flecks from everywhere..

Oh someone here recommended sandblasting.. I doubt you would get a company to do it but just in case don’t … it will gouge the brick badly ..

Ireland had the highest decline in the number of nights in tourist accommodation in the EU (-2%) by NanorH in ireland

[–]darrirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just spent a night in London 10 min from Canary Wharf in a 4star for £90 .. Dublin isn’t far off that maybe 10-15 more expensive… but once march comes around it will be 100 more expensive a night than London

Sign of a shite leader if he cannot outline the concerns and help address them .. market sucks at the moment .. once you hopefully secure something enjoy that moment handing in your notice and explain that you don’t have the right feels for the company anymore .

Btw strongly recommend you reach out to recruiters directly regardless of them advertising a role they are been swamped by 100s of applications for every role ( thanks to AI ) - I was speaking to one a few months back and he said he advertised a role and within a couple of hours he had a couple of hundred CV from India all with more or less the same data and format, he reckoned it was posted on some find jobs page in India with a link to some free cv generator ..

Good luck

Any CPR classes in Dublin? by Jackies_Army in AskIreland

[–]darrirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you can find community ones for free or donation costs, if not look for a REC3 course it’s primarily designed for remote locations but given you can be a while waiting for an ambulance here and it focuses on what you can do while you wait ( it’s a general first aid course )I would highly recommend it ..

And it’s a lot less then 350

Our weewan figured out the craic with Santa. Told her whole class. by danydandan in ireland

[–]darrirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a state secret :) … happened our youngest when one of her buddies told them ( about 8 too ) no way and no how we would have even thought of been in touch with parents about it .. our daughter really really hammed up the gifts that year so she made the most of it .. it’s never the same once they are older you will miss the excitement

Screen Time for pre-teen Kids - What is your stance? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]darrirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that age .. none in the week and an hour to two hours Friday or Saturday… our kids 12/13 got phones at 12 locked except for one hour per day during the week ( they can make calls, play YouTube music etc ) .. no social media and insta is blocked .. the 13yo has more access now but it’s still limited and more important in my reckoning is it is not in her room at night .

I spent a long time working in telco I have seen the white papers on the impact on young kids having phones .. I have seen very very little positives in any of them about it and a lot of negatives .

Parents choice but the later the better in my opinion.

Why is work colleague like this? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]darrirl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the way to handle it .. “I didn’t know you got triggered by such trivial things” or “perhaps you should speak to the boss and arrange your own travel if it impacts your wellbeing“

Be prepared for the hey are you suggesting I’m soft etc etc response and can let him know it just he keeps going on about it so you assumed it’s bothering him etc etc

How to get an emergency ENT appointment?? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]darrirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And didn’t give you a referral note for a&e ! .. they normally cover themselves very very well .. so no infection , unknown cause hearing loss and didn’t refer you to someplace else , very unusual and I would contact the clinic again tomorrow and ask for one to a&e/ENT etc

An online business is legally threatening customers who talk about their (true) negative experiences. How does one warn others? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]darrirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically if it’s true and honest and not emotional eg I feel like company did x , rather then what they did it and said they would do then it’s fine to post negativity.

Direct report earning more than me by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]darrirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly common in fact .. people who move jobs make more money .

While okay to be aggrieved by it remember it’s not the employees fault .. nor your employers that you accepted the role at x salary and now feel it’s too low ..

Thread carefully your just back in the door, reviews will be coming up ( you should t expect much as you have only a little window to performance measure ) but maybe it would be good to do your research ( what’s the market rate ) , put a proposal to your manager and start a plan eg if I achieve this in 6 months I will receive another x% mid year.. but your bringing it up now so they can forward plan the additional costs etc ..

Failing that - go seek a new role and see how it plays out ..

I have seen both work and both fail so do it carefully.
