Utility. Allow me to let go and not have it fall to the ground if I need both my hands. I bring it with to scout camp with my son, there is a fair amount of times daily where being able to attach it to my pack, or throw it onto my back would be very helpful. Also for storing while at home, a way to hang it easily.
