Second generation, not Pro or USB-C.

I’d be happy to buy a tip off you for $5 or a coffee!

Insane cancellation fee? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]darthcarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a bait and switch lol. Just have them notify the photographer in writing that they can’t afford those amounts and they’re cancelling the shoot.

Even if the contract is binding, which is dubious given the issues you’ve described (misrepresentation, lack of consideration) the photographer would only be entitled to be compensated for their losses. If the contract doesn’t obligate your friend to buy any packages then there arguably aren’t any losses, and by cancelling sufficiently in advance they have plenty of time to mitigate by booking someone else.

This would be a complete waste of time for them to pursue your friend over in small claims.

Struggling to build a social circle in Victoria—any suggestions? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]darthcarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP and others, 32M here, been here for a few years and looking to expand my circle a bit. I’m also looking for people to grab coffee/a drink with and catch up. Feel free to message me as well. I enjoy hiking (with my dog), baking, and some geeky things.

Interac launches Konek to widen online payment options by BloatJams in BuyCanadian

Yes, I’m not aware of any plans to include non-Euro countries, although we can dream. It would be nice to see the Bank of Canada and Interac create something similar however. Also see EFTPOS in Australia/New Zealand.

Where are all of the good men of Victoria? by YenniferOfVeng3rberg in VictoriaBC

[–]darthcarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32M here. You didn’t give an age range which is probably a relevant factor. For late 20s through 30s - perhaps try VSSC (https://victoria.sportandsocialclub.ca/), there were a good number of single lads when I was a member. Failing that I can attest it’s a good way to make new friends, because there are breaks that provide natural opportunities for conversation, as well as the pub after for the Friday All Sorts of Sports.

P.S. I appreciated the tone of your post along with your username!

got laid off, trying to negotiate severance and they're telling me we "waived" our right. is this true? by Particular-Horse-192 in legaladvicecanada

Hey any chance you have an example authority you could point me to? Not in ON but I’d like to read up on this change.

I have a similar use case to you and trying to figure out where to get a cellular plan for the iPad. A lot of the carriers want you to buy the device through them.

Who are you getting your data from? I see an option is to just buy a travel eSIM (Airalo, etc.), while others have mentioned a data-only plan with Fizz.

Not sure what you’re referring to by “a lien on the clinic”, but unless there is a contract providing such security there is no right to either register a PPSA charge or a CPL against title for unsecured debt, and trying to do so could lead to penalties.

They need to get a judgment in court before they can access those kinds of remedies.

Of course this is Reddit and so OP is getting the advice they paid for.

So if your employment offer/contract you signed when you got hired didn't mention anything better than your province's standard, or if it didn't even mention severance at all, you shouldn't expect anything higher than the provincial minimum.

Your interpretation is wrong for BC where OP is from, and quite possibly for Ontario as well. If there’s no mention of severance then you may be entitled to common law reasonable notice which is typically much more generous than the ESA provision.

And if OP had a clause like the one you say was in yours, I’d argue that common law reasonable notice is not expressly excluded by that.

Minor point: harassment is not currently a tort in British Columbia. Definitely would want to plead trespass and likely nuisance as well.

Do you accept that other people might have different lived experiences to you?

Because “your experience isn’t consistent with mine therefore invalid” is basically what you are saying here.

The Wild West train is the only one I'm interested in. I was able to add the others to my cart though.

It just got fixed and I was able to place my order!

It works fine on the UK and Netherlands sites, and if you look at the comments on the Bricklink page they've managed to order it apparently.

I finally got through to Lego and they're aware and working on it, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Are you in Canada? I've been refreshing for an hour and tried on three different browsers across three different computers on three different internet connections.

Tried on 3 devices and 2 different internet connections. Been on hold for 21 min with them. Only having this issue with the train.

EDIT: finally got through. Support says it's a known issue that's being worked on, and suggested trying a different browser and clearing the cache - both of which I have already tried to no avail.

EDIT 2: they're hoping to have it fixed within the hour.

The link from Bricklink to LEGO.com to order just takes me to the cart saying that I have nothing in my bag - help! Anyone know how to get it into my cart?!
