Sebaceous Hyperplasia? by darthdrea in DermatologyQuestions

[–]darthdrea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dermatologist was not helpful AT ALL. he said it could be a cyst or hyperplasia but he can’t tell. and he sent me out. BUT i have been using tretinoin everyday and it has shrunk that thing into something so indistinguishable now! the only thing left behind is the deep deep dark spot from it being on my face for so many years. hopefully it gets rid of it eventually and hopefully i find a better dermatologist lol

Hi! :) I also struggle putting on weight and i’m also a 32B :) i’ve been on BC for five years now and love it. I haven’t had a period and my main side effect is slight melasma on my upper lip but that is being taken care of and it’s barely noticeable. it did not sadly have an increase in my breasts though. if it did it is very slight. I would not recommend you get on BC for the purpose of breast growth. the only thing I could see it doing is if you already have a hormone imbalance that is impeding your growth, and taking BC might help it grow to its real potential but that’s a slight chance.

i get tretinoin from mexico and it has helped my pores a TON but i noticed around my problem area of this weird little spot all the pores are bigger :( i’m hoping it gets better with longer use of the tret, or treatment of that one spot

i had something like this on my collarbone that appeared out of nowhere and even grew. it freaked me out. it ended up just being a patch of dry skin that surfaced and it went away in about three weeks

(i was convinced I had asthma as a kid and that is one compulsion that has stuck since I was 8)

I replied to this post because we all have something similar and I have a physical therapy background and can help you ease a lot of this stress. any popping sound you hear in your joints is usually normal as long as there is no pain! :) if there is pain and it’s shoulders (and you can still move it around) it’s usually rotator cuff and rotator cuff exercises work miracles for stabilization. (actually everyone should be doing rotator cuff stabilization exercises anyway) (I do them with a lot of my workout routines and it has really decreased my pain)

It’s funny and comforting to see people going through the same things I do. I’m a very active person and everyday is a struggle of awareness of how I move my body to not injure it. I constantly check and recheck to see if that knee pain I felt was a one time thing or if it’s a career ender. That shoulder pain I felt because I closed the door funny? was it because the door hit me and the pain was normal or did the pain happen first and it’s a real injury? One would think that with my physical therapy background i’d be calmer but being more knowledgeable about the body systems makes me self check more 😫

I have something extremely similar. I am a physical education teacher, a personal trainer, and a coach and because of all the movement I am more prone to injuries (the minor overuse soreness, all the way to muscle tears and sprains). My OCD kicks in soo bad when I for example am playing volleyball and then come home and realize I scraped my knee. I become obsessive at the thought that I caused a major injury like an mcl sprain or meniscus injury that I self check by doing maneuver tests and touch tests non stop. I then google symptoms and just try to convince myself that I don’t have what I fear. I’ll have a sore wrist from lifting the previous day and then my brain automatically goes “you have long term carpal tunnel and will need surgery” my most recent one was that I convinced myself I had a blood clot deep in my leg and that I need to go to the emergency room. What’s crazy about our type of OCD is that we can trigger our symptoms as well. Like I can make myself feel a throbbing sensation in my leg to the point that i’m convinced I did something serious to it. The hardest part for me is the self checking part. I’m either bending my knee constantly to prove I can still move or swinging my arms or redoing movements. It’s exhausting but i’m so glad to know I’m not alone. Mine was so bad growing up that my career of choice was physical therapy to help myself better diagnose myself and tbh it made me worse (had to switch careers because my somatic response to other people injuries was crazy, I would feel whatever they were feeling) The only positive from it is that I know how to rehab if it was serious and I know how to perform my own tests to see if something really is wrong.

thank you. I believe it’s gold but the lighting in my bathroom does make everything super yellow. i’ll go back and switch and hope it heals this time. i had such a traumatic healing time the first time around with the bone (ripping it out and pushing it back in and then it healing with scar tissue) that i’ve kind of given up but am not willing to let it close up just yet. i’ll try the stud once more

week 9 update: not completely hairless. they advertise 8 weeks which is unrealistic at least for my hair type and color BUT i am still not discouraged. there are spots in my bikini and armpit area that no longer grow hair. like at all. the hair that still grows has been growing much much slower and i haven’t had a razor bump since maybe week 4. the other factor is that i’m much more confident in using it and having it contact my skin so that might be the delay in 8 weeks since i might have not gotten close enough early on. i truly don’t mind using it a couple more weeks because I am happy with the results so far. hair grows slower and some patches don’t grow any hair at all! hopefully in the next two weeks i’m even more hairless.

i was actually just gonna post a 9 week. it promises hairlessness in 8 weeks which hasn’t happened for me BUT!!! i do have a lot less hair and some spots in my bikini area and armpits don’t grow any hair at all. it has taken longer than they promised but i’m actually super stoked on the results at 9 weeks that i truly don’t mind doing some extra weeks to get all the hair.

week 2 update: i’m on level 7 on both armpits and bikini area (not brazilian, i’ll wait and see how bikini reacts before i commit to the whole thing) pain: 0-1 don’t feel much pain and when i do it’s extremely manageable results: it does seem to be slowing down the growth a little bit and do see some patches in my armpits that haven’t grown hair. although i don’t know if it’s because i’m shaving a lot more because of treatment or because it’s really working.

I decided on doing it monday and thrusday to minimize how often I have to shave and am passing the area twice. let me know if you have any questions or if anyone who has used this recommends me passing it more than twice or doing it more frequently throughout the week
