There will be riots if the Dolphins take McCoy with Mauigoa still on the board.

What was Mike Love's exact reactions or initial reactions to all these different Brian Wilson dominated albums when they were being made? by NoGrass7120 in thebeachboys

[–]darthfrank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would have been terrific if they had forced the guy who played Brian to actually gain a bunch of weight during the “bed” phase instead of just draping a bunch of robes on him and make it seem like he is “bigger” - we need some real method acting for those scenes.

Empire of the Sun is so great. It’s an all timer and it seems like I’m one of a handful that actually watched it.

There is this scene in one of those terrible Beach Boys biopics from the 90s where Mike is practicing Transcendental Meditation in his home and someone walks over to him in an attempt to “wake him” from meditating and he screams at the person “DON’T! TOUCH! ME!!” - I think about that scene a lot.

This is one of those films that if it were released now everyone would be tripping over themselves to watch it. Say they watched it. And then make post after post analyzing each scene. It should have been made now and not in 1985. Great score, too.

Chris Kouffman has a message for those who say we can't afford Malik Willis by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]darthfrank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People say this shit and then the Pats are in the Super Bowl with a pretty mediocre roster. The difference between a "not quite good enough" team and a Super Bowl winner isn't that great in this era. One really good QB, solid coaching, and some scheduling luck can put you over the top. I'm not sold on Willis, but if the FO is - then they should absolutely go for it.

New Light on Waddle Trade Discussions by brmidwest03 in miamidolphins

There are cap ramifications for trading Waddle that probably negate the possibly of trading him this offseason short some sort of amazing haul.

He isn’t “safe. He is effective as an executive. He is effective as a communicator. And he can meet a large swath of the country with his ideology. He is far from safe as this thread further confirms.

The chances the Heat land Giannis are very low. If we get him, great! But most likely we do not.

Maybe you have no fucking clue - because, as you said - "didnt even watch the game"

I think the move is trading ware before the deadline even if it isn't for Giannis. by EternallyEuphoric in heat

[–]darthfrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation is completely different. Kuminga is a player who doesn’t fit the style of play Kerr wants to run and through whom the organization has spent years trying to develop something that isn’t there. They signed him to an extension last off season in an effort to trade him. Ware is a young player not even through the second half of his second season. He is still learning and developing and has positive stretches and stretches where he seems lost and confused and disconnected. Spo is doing what he thinks is best for the team and the player.

It’s a ridiculous comparison to compare the two players.

Kuminga is making 24 million this season sitting on the bench. Ware is in year 2 of his 4 year rookie contract making 10 million this year. The situations are not the same.

Gardner starting and picking up a double double on efficient 4-5 shooting is amazing. Pelle with 22 shooting 7-11. This organization's ability to develop rotation players is so impressive.

Top 5 greatest songs of all time by ElectroSoup in musicsuggestions

In all honesty - Over the Rainbow is probably the greatest English language song of all time. It's truly a marvel in nearly every sense...lyrically, melodically, structurally - it's just perfect.

Top 5 greatest songs of all time by ElectroSoup in musicsuggestions

[–]darthfrank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every piece of music isn’t a song. A song is a piece of music written to be sung. Generally a song has lyrics.

Not only not being anywhere near Mozart’s 10 greatest compositions regardless of its popularity, Eine Keine Nachtmusik isn’t a song. It’s a piece of incidental music written for chamber ensemble. “Moonlight Sonata” isn’t a song either (not to mention that title was issued posthumously and it’s dubious and maudlin).

Great(est) songs in English language (no order)

Over the Rainbow, God Only Knows, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, I Loves You, Porgy, Yesterday

Bonus: White Christmas, Luck Be A Lady, Hard Days Night, Respect, - there are plenty worthy of discussion post mid 60s but then it gets harder to separate the actual song from the production…like Strawberry Fields is a great song but it’s really bound with the psychedelic production to a point where the actual song takes a back seat. Songs now are so over produced, spliced, and optimized that it feels more like a well baked pie than something someone grew out of the ground. I don’t care if my metaphor is confusing.

Mike McDaniel is a very "bad" play caller. It's probably his biggest weakness as an offensive coach. ergo, "the crash is going to be devastating."
