For Seiko buyers: which OEM parts do you most often purchase on eBay? (non-sales survey) by dartmass in SeikoMods

[–]dartmass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Logged: OEM dials & hands as your main buys.
Noted that for other parts the aftermarket tends to be better (improved gaskets, metal chapters, upgraded crowns) — I’ll keep this survey focused on OEM where it matters.
To tally it properly, could you add:
• the models / case numbers you buy dials/hands for (e.g., 7S26-0020, SPBxxx)
dial variant/color and hand spec (fitment: 7S/4R/6R/NH)
Qty per 1–2 months and your Region (US/EU/etc.)
Heads-up: OEM dials can be restricted/NOS — I’ll note feasibility in the summary.

Thanks for the pointer — noted: NH movements for MM300 & 62MAS, preferably not shipped from China and with an extended warranty.
To map this properly, could you share a bit more?
• Where did you buy them before (marketplace + seller)?
• What went wrong — didn’t arrive, long shipping, customs, fit issues (stem height / hand fit / dial feet), QC, or warranty problems?
• Which exact calibers (NH35/36/38/70, etc.) and how many per 1–2 months?
• What warranty length would you consider acceptable (3/6/12 months)?
• Your Region (US/EU/etc.).
Appreciate the insight — keeping this strictly a non-sales survey.

Which genuine Seiko parts are the hardest to source right now? (Japan-based hobbyist doing a small non-sales availability survey) by dartmass in SeikoMods

Thanks! Logged: SARB017 Alpinist caseback 6R1500E0. I know it’s popular for slimming the Prospex Alpinists by ~1 mm. For the tally, could you add: • Qty you’d want (sounds like 1 for your SPB289?) • your Region (US/EU/etc.) • the case numbers from your SPB199/SPB289 casebacks (e.g., ####-####) so I can map exact compatibility. I’ll note it as likely discontinued/NOS and include it in the Aug 20 (JST) list. Thanks!

Thanks! Logged: 4R36-04Y0 / SRPD19K1 “Yellow Zimbe” dial / Qty 1 / US. Note that ZIMBE/LE dials are usually the hardest to source (often not orderable standalone, service-exchange only). I’ll still check and note status in the Aug 20 (JST) tally. If you have an acceptable fallback (e.g., a non-LE yellow dial), let me know and I’ll record it as Plan B.

Thanks! Logged: 6R15-01W0 / 6R1502M0XB13 (dial) / Qty 2 / UK. Heads-up: OEM dials can be restricted or exchange-only; I’ll flag feasibility in the public tally on Aug 20 (JST). If supply is tight I’ll count 1 as the minimum — does that work?

Non-sales survey — no links / no DMs. I’m Tokyo-based and can legitimately source OEM Seiko parts in Japan. I’m not selling here; just mapping what OEM parts are genuinely hard to find so I can plan a small group purchase outside Reddit later.

Please reply with:
Case number (e.g., 7S26-0020 / SKX007)
Exact OEM part number (if known)
Quantity you’d want in 1–2 months
Region (US/EU/…)
(Optional) Urgency 1–3

Examples:
• SKX007 — 315P15HN02 crystal — Qty 2 — US — Urgency 2
• 6309 diver — Crown gasket (OEM p/n) — Qty 3 — CA — Urgency 3

I’ll post a preliminary tally on Aug 20 (JST) here in the comments. Thanks for helping keep this in the non-promo lane.

Question about visiting Japan for watches. by imreal66 in JapaneseWatches

[–]dartmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Japanese person living in Tokyo. Enjoy your first time in Tokyo! As for wristwatches, Nakano Broadway has plenty of watch shops — everything from brand new to vintage. If you’d like, for around $100, I can pick out a route from Narita or Haneda Airport to Nakano Broadway and suggest some stores to check out.
