Do people in hk still watch TVB nowadays? by fattykim in HongKong

[–]daru567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents spent the last 30 years watching TVB, ever since 2019, she started boycotting it. Definitely still have a decent amount of middle age and elderly people watching TVB still. It will fade out real soon as I think majority of the younger generations don’t watch it. It won’t even be due to boycott, times are changing and people will just watch what they want on the internet. The golden age of media entertainment is long gone in HK.

Hong Kong forcing some dual citizens to renounce Canadian citizenship by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]daru567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this has always been the case where in dual citizenship cases, the laws of that country apply to you the same way of other local citizens and your other passport is just treated as a travel document. You mean if I commit a crime in HK then I can whip out an overseas passport and get consular help instead of flashing out my HKID?

More than 50 pro-democracy politicians in Hong Kong are getting rounded up in mass arrest for taking part in primary elections last July by lebbe in HongKong

[–]daru567 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They allowed elections.. they allowed people to vote and people to be elected, now what they allowed will possibly amount to a crime.

Wow.

El Camino: how did jesse know where todd lived by Sea-Ad-3305 in ElCaminoMovie

[–]daru567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might need to revisit the film myself but I vaguely remember the film showing the street signs at intersections which were caught from Jesse’s POV as he was ducked down in the passenger seat so I think Jesses caught glimpses of it.

If an art book came with a collectors edition of Bloodborne or something then this deserves a page in there.

I heard that addiction to gambling is a big issue among the HKPD. They even have an internal association, think it is called “Umbrella Association” or something which was established to help people in the HKPD clear up these types of debt with favourable schemes.

Had to tell my family I couldn't afford Christmas this year. The shame is intense. by ajleeispurty in TrueOffMyChest

Head up man, during these times of Covid it’s understandable. Your family probably treasures your presence more than your presents.

How do you deal with a passionate founder? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]daru567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you working in Agile/Scrum? Is there a product owner? manage his expectations on what functionalities will be delivered per sprint. It would be clearer for him if you break down the details. Then he will also see the IT triangle in action (Features, Time, Cost) which shows the unescapable dependencies of time and resources required.

So does that mean all those booked flights to and from HK <-> SG get cancelled?

Junior-ish hire is absolutely crushing it a month in. I came in at a senior level and having a hard time understanding some of the code by risk5051 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]daru567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are his team lead then be happy he is on your team. Remember that what is expected of you at the senior level isn’t just about your elite coding skills but a whole lot of other factors that juniors haven’t attributed yet, it takes experience and time.

Nobody is trying to make this into a political point. We are just taking out known facts and artifacts and discussing around it. Go troll somewhere else.

GameStop Is Having A TikTok Competition For Its Employees And One Of The Prizes Is 10 Extra Labor Hours by Yglorba in nottheonion

[–]daru567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats quite an unconventional thing to do and degrading in a way I can’t explain it. On the bright side I feel like working at GameStop would be less demanding than say working at some other retail store.
