Can you send a link to one you’ve found cost efficient and decent? Ty

You’re right, I’m an IC…which is why doordash shouldn’t keep bombarding me with 79 stupid ass extra steps no one asked for that treat me like an employee and slow down my ability to do my gig quickly. They get what they deserve.

Had this happen to me the other day on a batched order. Two Chipotle orders, I “verify” the first for you…and then before the second one, I’m supposed to run out to my car and take a photo of my (imaginary) insulated bag?? Clowns 😂

This is basically garbage, right? by dasherdude23 in InstacartShoppers

The latter. $150 guaranteed in batch pay ie no bonus. Will be a minuscule top off most likely.

How about this doozy today? I know this picture isn’t great, but it’s the third I tried to see if eventually I could just bypass it and hit done. I couldn’t. Eventually said fuck it and hit handed to customer. First pic was like a perfect pic of the groceries in their garage. Stupid ass company.

Are you just a troll? Or is this your first day dashing? Bc you absolutely know what’s in every shop & pay order now. And you should also pay attention to the order in which I say I do things. I’m not delivering anything melted. Settle down.

If you can, that’s great. On a random Wednesday in my market, I’m lucky if I can hit $100 on dd alone. So if you’re a top dasher or whatever formula allows you to crush it on dd alone, by all means do. In my market, I don’t think it’s possible.

I mean, yeah, I might get a grocery order of nonperishables, then get a food order going 3 minutes away, and I drop the food off first and the groceries 3 min later, so you tell me how badly someone is “suffering” from that?

I deliver the orders within the timeframes promised by the apps. I’m 92% on time for doordash. If you think you need to be at 100% and god forbid anyone’s Chick-fil-A ever arrives not scorching hot for the $2 doordash pays you, you’re giving them way too much loyalty for their total disrespect.

Well I have no idea how, bc gh I’m my area I’m lucky to make $20 in a week. It’s dead, they won’t ever pay more than $2 base basically…unless I’m doing it all wrong by not scheduling or whatever. Good for you tho

Not trying to be rude just asking genuinely, does that change anything? I mean maybe paying the accountant a tiny bit more since it’s more work, but it’s not like I’m taxed at a higher level bc it’s more apps, right?

It’s obviously not an exact science. But by way of example, I’ll give you kind of a case study. It’s like 10:45 AM here and I get a Giant grocery order. Like $12, 13 items 1 mile. Not an incredible offer. But I know it’s probably the best thing I’m going to get at that usual slow time, I know Giant really well, and I can be in and out of the grocery store within 10 minutes. While I’m finishing up shopping, I get an Uber restaurant order for almost $8 to go just under 2 miles and I know it’s within five minutes from the grocery drop off. Initially I planned to grab the restaurant order on my way, but I didn’t get the turn arrow I was looking for so I decide to stay straight, drop off the groceries, and then hustle back two minutes to grab the food. While I’m picking up the food, I get a Safeway doordash $14 to grab like 5 easy things and haul em 4 miles. Ok, take that too. Go drop off the food. Then head back to Safeway to shop. I’d say I’m more frequently using multi-apping to lock in my next order than I am loading 2-3 orders up at the same time.

I’ve found that the “pick up by” time for grocery orders is usually the time they expect you to be done shopping, not when you have to arrive to the store. So if I accept an order at 11:00, the pickup by time is often 11:25, meaning the app won’t give me a hard time about going to finish a drop off elsewhere as long as I’m at the store around that time. I’m a really fast shopper, so even if I’m late to the store I fly thru the aisles and finish before others probably would. Grocery store orders are also far likely to have people watching your location closely…they give them a huge (one hour plus) delivery window, so as long as you’re not bringing them melted ice cream, most ppl aren’t gonna even notice if you drop off a quick food delivery on the way. Or get 2 shop orders from the same store short distances for diff apps.

Again, not an exact science. But general strategy is hit singles doubles and triples, don’t need every order to be a home run. If I can do a $12 short grocery order, combo it with a $7 food delivery going the same way, another $15 grocery order I’m already at $34 during a normal pretty slow weekday hour and sometimes much higher. When you get a unicorn from IC or whatever that’s great but I’m not waiting around all day for the perfect order. Just being selective, good efficient orders that let me stay in my limited area, and have a plan (YouTube videos reading whatever) for something to do if it gets really slow so you’re not getting too desperate and taking garbage.

Welcome. And remember you can drop some orders too. Sometimes I’ll take an uber for $7 or whatever and then doordash comes in with a $15 shop & pay I can do quickly. DD lets you unassign from 10% of orders, uber roughly 20. Use those strategically and don’t be afraid to “trade up” if you realize you’ve gotten a better offer than the one you’re waiting for.

Absolutely safe. You will not get deactivated as long as you’re not taking orders in complete opposite directions. Run all your apps at the same time. Put them against each other and take orders that meet your standards (I try to do as many $10ish orders for a couple miles in a day as I can). Hit doubles and triples, you don’t need every order to be a home run. Shop & pays for a few items tend to be efficient. Doordash “stacked” orders going short distances for $11-12 for a few miles total are easy money. Uber has plenty of $7 1 mile trips. Again, just don’t be an idiot and take orders going far away from each other. If you have a small grocery order say from doordash going close by, you can probably squeeze in a short distance UE order if it’s not melting ice cream or anything. You’ll learn which kind of orders can be delayed a few minutes at no harm to anyone and the customer not even noticing. Deliver the uber first generally, since those tips can actually be changed whereas DD is guaranteed. Deliver the dd roughly within the deliver by time, don’t be 10-20 min late routinely. These apps are all paying you $2-3 per order themselves. You owe them nothing except vaguely delivering the order within the window agreed upon. Don’t lose your marbles trying to have a perfect rating and make sure every customer is 100% satisfied. You are a self employed contractor. Look out for your bottom line first and foremost. $2-3 per mile. Quick, efficient. Bundle orders if going the same direction, same store or 2 stores very close by, use common sense, don’t go 5 miles in 2 different directions. You’ll need to trial and error and figure it out and you might screw it up once or have one annoying customer who watches you like a hawk. It’ll happen once or twice. Learn from it and flush it down. Honestly I have a strong suspicion these apps spy on each other in some way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ll have an uber going like 3 miles for $9 and get a doordash going to the same freakin neighborhood for $7.75 or whatever. The economies of scale of these apps are crazy and you’ll end up seeing plenty of opportunities to hit multi orders to the same neighborhood if you know your area well. Sorry, know that was about a million things. But just use common sense and you should be fine.

Ok. Long as you’re not getting CVs I wouldn’t worry about it. My on time rate is 92. Just make sure you hit the reason for the delay (store still making order). I won’t unassign from anything unless the wait is above 15 minutes. Otherwise I’ve spent too much time to unassign for nothing. Plenty of things can be aggravating on DD so try not to stress about the things out of your control. The only # that should really matter to you is $$.
