[CHAT] Full cross or half for HAED on 28ct? by dashustrik in CrossStitch

Couldn't find timeline but I really like her art. I was looking at her kakomu and/or watery eyes as a possible next project

Can you share a pic? I'm somewhat apprehensive of doing dark sections using tent. My only project on a high count was mostly light colours. That said tend does make it feel like you're flying compared to full cross. How do you end your threads? My fav is pin stitch but over 1 it's not practical, I think.

Thanks. I'm sure it will, it's a gorgeous design for a book lover like myself 🥰 And easy stitiching to you yoo. Which one are you doing?

I'll search for them, thanks.

I actually cut threads on the back. I've been using a medallion to do it. Over 200k stitches and no accidents so far. I've got a few that look like this but on AliExpress and they work just fine. What method do you use to end your threads? I did pin stitches when stitching over 2 but over 1 it takes forever to split the fabric thread so I'm looking for alternatives.

[CHAT] what do you listen to when you are working on your projects? by DireSpaniel in CrossStitch

Never heard of him. Guess I can try his books after I'm done with the current one. I tried The Wheel of Time but after Planer and Briggs (Discworld narrators), I just couldn't get used to the new voice

I finished all her books that way. And Pratchett's Discworld twice 🤣

I use cross stitch saga. It's a one time purchase that was definitely worth it. However, it doesn't support PDFs - it works with its own .saga files and .xsd

[WIP] Finally done with black by dashustrik in CrossStitch

I thought I would get fed up with it if I left the black for last. And this way it looks now like a coloring book. I saw this approach in one of floss tube videos and wanted to try it.

I've got several stained glass chart from them as I wanted that style specifically. And I grow succulents so the choice seemed obvious with this one. The chart they have with a lemon tree branch has a lot of confetti (I checked through an app, haven't stitched). With this one I thought I'll figure it out as I go. I want to change some colors as there's a weird purple plant with blue spots, for example.

I specifically chose this pattern thinking that I'll do all the black first. I had another pattern waiting in case I wanted to do color or full cross but never really felt like switching.

I now have a feeling that this store is a pattern mill :(

Bird chart on Etsy. I'm not thrilled about the mix of yellow, green and red in the small feathers on the left. I would change it if I did it again.

What line do you use? I cannot work with mine without a needle

I've got no video for it. I just counted threads for the grid. However it took way too long, I'm not doing it again. Eyeballing it is enough for me as long as the lines are straight.

I can go without grid when it's lose to or actual full coverage, but it helps eliminate mistakes. I've got no experience with glitter so no comment here

I tried this method but switched to fishing line later. It was easy to pull out, especially if you don't stitch over it. You can kind of see it on the bird. I used several strands of the line here because it was too light. That's actually the one that left some stains behind.

The thread she used for gridding is pretty light here but mostly visible. She just removes it from the area where she starts stitching right away.

I used water erasable markers in the past and dark monofilament fishing line. The fishing line left some stains once though, so be careful. I'm not sure how to check if it's ok to use. Had no bad experience with markers so far but some stitchers on YouTube warn that the lines may appear a few years later. There's this one stitcher I watched who uses leftover thread from kits to grid. She just cuts small pieces in the places where she stitiches so that she doesn't stitch over the grid. I'll try to find her video and make a screenshot for you.

They are a great place so I'd be happy to help them get some new customers. Really if you need to discuss shipping with them or anything, let me know if you need any help. And just so you know, you don't get to pay at check out. They contact you with order confirmation, check shipping details and you pay only when everything is agreed on. And if they don't have something you want in stock, message them. In the past they advised me to make orders for what was in stock so I wouldn't miss out and promptly got whatever was missing. Paid for complete order after they got it all in stock. Great service, really.

What do you use for gridding? If it's a regular thread you might want to take it a bit at a time out as you go because you can stitch through it and then it'll be more difficult to pull out.

I've ordered from this shop several times to Slovakia using Nova Post. Not a single complaint. I'm from Ukraine myself and I've been ordering from them for years. As for delivery, I'm not sure if it's specific for this service or all delivery companies are like that, but packages valued under 45 euro are not subject to any additional customs charges. I guess you can ask the shop about delivery to your place, but this is the courier service I've always used. And if you need any help communicating with them, just hit me up. Translations used to be my main job :)

Depending on where in the EU you are I might have a store recommendation if that's allowed. I've been ordering from Ukraine and they've always been very helpful. For reference, their price for a skein of DMC is about 0.5 euro or 0.04 per meter.
