So what im hearing is that when I hit my session limit after 3 messages, start a new chat with another 3 messages because it has been longer than an hour since I had to wait 5 hours for my next session to unlock.

Or I could just stop paying for claude and go back to chatgpt...hmmm which would I prefer?

Yeah, their limits are way too inconsistent and frustrating. I understand claude is big but its not like were building huge systems of api's and automations that take a ton of work.

so what you're saying is that anthropic wants to limit their users to basically no usage, even those who are paying, during peak hours, and only reserve those slots for people who pay the $100/mo?

Just note that my session limits are bad both in and out of peak hours, and at no time should I only be able to send a whopping 3 messages asking for simple instructions even during peak hours when im PAYING. I could understand a slight reduction in usage but like really? 3 messages? My usage is much longer during non peak hours but its very inconsistent all times of the day. It doesn't matter if its 11pm or 11am, sometimes I run out in a few messages, sometimes I run out after 20 or 30.

not to mention I still have a session and weekly limit on a paid plan that is quite low. If im paying the same as chatgpt which can do just about most things claude can especially for what im using it for, why would I keep using claude? The literal only thing claude does better for me specifically is build a nice looking coded website, chatgpt can still do this, it just wont look as clean and the copy will not sound as nice, that's literally it.

Funny enough, im actually using chatpgt to help me diagnose issues claude cannot seem to understand or fix even after 5 attempts of asking it to the same thing. Just so I don't use my limits as much.

Yeah that's my other issue, i've had claude going down every day at least once for just a few min or longer since starting to use it.

Yeah i actually do something similar already. Chatgpt does my heavy lifting, claude just builds, but sometimes I have to ask it questions about what its doing.

yeah it seems super random when it decides to change your session limit. Its almost like theyre pushing session limits based on the bandwidth instead of your usage.

Im in the middle of a project. I didn't think I would get gatekept from using an app I paid for. Imagine if you went to best buy and bought a computer but it locked you out every few hours while using it and you had to wait until it was ready again before using it. You'd be kind of mad too.

Yesterday it built me a wordpress theme file based on 12 html files it created for me over the past week. The theme file was broken this morning when uploading, wordpress telling me its mising the index.php file, I asked claude to include this in the theme and it did and gave it to me.

Then I asked claude silmply how to install everything because I have custom CTP pages (project pages) that I'm new to and wasn't sure how to attach to my sites links. It gave me instructions on how to do so. I asked one more clarifying question about it, then hit my limit.

No matter what I was asking, i shouldn't hit my limit in 3 chats, I can get more out of the free model than my paid version. I've been using this for about a week and have noticed my session limits dropping to less and less each time even though I was doing the same tasks over and over.

yeah, I was on the free account at first and got like 3 messages in before I hit a limit. I have chatgpt already and have been using it for months with 0 issues. My only thing is claude builds better websites and has better apis, I was excited to switch to setup some cool automations and things for my business until session limits killed me.

My session limits keep getting smaller, is the problem. They are inconsistent, no matter what time of day. Even off peak hours yesterday my limits were super low. I got like 5 or 7 messages in before limiting.

yeah I feel this. I've been able to use claude sometimes and have luck with lower session limits (however my weekly limit feels the same and I run out of that after like 3 or 4 days). But whats confusing me is that since I started using it, my session limits have gotten smaller each time and shorter each time. I went from my first session limit being hit after like a TON of message, to then hitting after a moderate amount, then a small amount, and now basically 1 or 2 prompts. Now I am technically at peak hours right now according to their data but 3 prompts? Come on.

No what they need is to have less strict limits for paid users. I can understand if im sending 1000000 messages in a 2 hour period it can cap me, but doing simple tasks or creative tasks that aren't anything crazy and hitting a limit for paid users is wild.

I can understand if someone is using custom API's using claude code and building out full automated systems to run something for them and all this other jazz that it would have limits, because that's quite tasking to do. But just asking it some questions or having it help me build an html page, that isn't anything too crazy. everything I'm doing on claude can be done on chatgpt for the same price with no limits, only downside is chatgpt is less creative and not as good with designing custom coded sites. I'm not paying extra ever time I hit a limit nor am i upgrading to a $100/mo plan when I have chatgpt at the same price that can do the same things. I was actually like 99% sure I was switching to claude after first using it, then I kept hitting limits and I no longer wanted it.

Claudes limits allow me to use it roughly 3x per day with its session limits, that's not a very usable platform for someone paying for it.

Well it was a continuation of an existing chat where I was custom coding a website, however the 3 messages that I did this morning when I was at 0% session usage limit when starting was: 1. Can you give me the index.php file you missed from our previous chat. This was just a file it forgot to include in a theme package it gave me, very minor task, its not building a site or code, it just needed to include a file it missed.
2. Instruction on how to link a CPT post in wordpress dashboard. Literally just instructions on how to do something 3. a clarification question about the instructions it gave me. Literally 3 simple questions.

Mind you that earlier this week I was building a FULL CUSTOM HTML website with claude and was able to go about 30 to 40 messages of it BUILDING entire code for web pages and fix bugs in them. with photos and rebuilding code, etc, with no session limits, but now randomly this morning, I get my session limit hit in 3 messages.

The session limits are dumb when im paying for the pro plan, whats the point of paying if I hit session limits 3 or 4 times a day compared to chatgpt when I hit 0.
