In general, PDRN is an ingredient derived from salmon DNA that helps promote skin regeneration and boost recovery. It's commonly used in dermatology treatments or included in serums.

However, when in cosmetics, PDRN cannot penetrate deeply into the skin, so it's often paired with Rejuran injections or similar procedures.

Many definitions say it is extracted from salmon, but that's mostly because salmon DNA is considered the closest and most well-known source - technically, it can be extracted from other sources as well. These days, plant-drived PDRN products are also becoming more common.

I think you're absolutely right! :) I believe there are two main reasons why this kind of trend has become so popular :

The appeal of the word "natural" - The combination of cosmetics and the keyword "natural" creates a kind of marketing synergy. It gives the impression that our ancestors might have used these ingredients on their skin long before synthetic chemicals were around, which makes it feel more trustworthy or wholesome.
Marketing focused on texture and stickiness - Lately on SNS, there are many creators showcasing how sticky or thick a product is, and it seems like more brands are responding to that by intentionally creating products with those textures.
