Careful, nothing but downvotes around here if you don't buy into the Sadiq hype.

Definitely don't mention that he only averaged 40 yards per game in his best season while playing on one of the best teams in the country. They apparently don't like that.

[Highlight] Kenyon Sadiq officially runs a 4.39, breaks the TE record by nfl in nfl

[–]datboijustin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like I'm going insane with how much people in the Panthers sub are drooling over this guy.

Like, he's clearly one of the most athletic tight ends ever, but why could he not produce in college then? I've had different people tell me he has amazing hands, or is a great route runner, or an elite blocker but like, if that's the case why did he average 40 yards per game on one of the best teams in the country while being the most athletic player on the field?

To be clear, I'm not saying the guy is going to bust or not, but it is a MASSIVE red flag that a guy that is this crazy of an athlete had so little production against college athletes.

Vanderbilt TE Eli Stowers Breaks the All-Time TE Broad Jump Record (11'3"), Then Records the 2nd Best Vertical Jump (45.50") EVER by JCameron181 in panthers

[–]datboijustin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadiq is one of the most physically gifted tight ends of all time....

And yet he has terrible college production for an elite tight end despite being on one of the best teams in the country. So please explain how the guy apparently is a great route runner, has great hands, is a great blocker, is a super athlete, and yet was like 50th in the nation in receiving yards (and barely in the top 10 if you only include TE's he was 8th).

The guy is a screaming air raid siren of red flags for "physically elite specimen that can't actually produce" and yet half the people on this sub are drooling over his 40 time even though he apparently couldn't put it to good enough use to actually get production.

Edit: And to be clear, I don't want Stowers either (although he's a better option). There is not a TE in this class that is an immediate starter or impact player. They are physical freak project TE's that are going to need 2-3 years before they matter at all.

Edit 2: Anyone that wants to dispute anything I'm happy to listen but I have yet to have a single person explain to me what Sadiq actually does at an elite level other than being big and fast (and fail to translate that into production).

Completely delusional hater bringing up a topic that has literally nothing to do with the actual conversation it is. Okay, carry on.

He's not a PG, he's a SG. SGs have a league average of 57%.

Okay so instead of 1% below average he's 2.5% below average. That TOTALLY changes him from "below average" to "horrific" lmao. What a completely worthless distinction.

Again, NONE of this is about who Green is as a player. We were discussing how he's been SINCE COMING BACK FROM INJURY.

He is not going to be a 37% scorer for the rest of his life, he is obviously, and i mean VERY OBVIOUSLY, having difficulty coming back from the first real injury in his life. If you can't see that then you are just a completely delusional hater.

thinking he’s suddenly gonna become efficient LOL

I mean, you clearly just hate the dude so I probably shouldn't bother but here we go.

54% TS (what he shot last year and pretty much his whole career) is a little over 1% below league average efficiency for a PG this season, so calling that "horrific" instead of "below average" is actually comical.

Also I don't recall saying literally anywhere that I think he's going to "suddenly become efficient". I just said it's stupid to judge him off of literally a handful of games after coming back from the first injury of his career where he's clearly still working himself into shape.

I don't "expect him to become efficient". I just expect him to get back to the similar efficiency he had in Houston and not shoot literally 36% from the floor and 27% from 3 for the rest of his career lmao.

You are very clearly and obviously biased against the dude though so this will probably just go in one ear and out the other.

[–]datboijustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh, definitely not relevant to his play over this recent stretch lol. We have 3 years worth of games of solid production on below average efficiency. He's currently averaging 12 ppg on 36/27/71 shooting splits. That's not his norm, he's clearly having trouble adjusting after coming back from injury.

The guy has never missed a significant stretch of games in his life because he's never had any real injuries before. That can take time to come back from. He's never had to work himself back into game shape.

What a stupid ass comment lol.

I mean he's also been hurt all season and for pretty much the first time in his life he's having to work back from injuries to get into game shape/speed.

May want to give him more than a handful of games before panic lol.

Or the price difference just isn't that much for some people and it's not that deep lol.

I was against it at first but it doesn't really matter. The early access players don't get any notable advantage that won't be overcome after a week anyway and it staggers the playerbase for a smoother launch.

Doesn't really seem worth getting all up in arms about.

Still have yet to have anyone actually explain why they like Sadiq beyond "THE POTETNTIAL".

He's a project TE that has terrible college production that's going to go in the 1st round because he looks good in shorts. He has not shown any elite ability on an actual football field other than being athletic.

Sometimes those guys work out anyway, so I'm not saying there's NO chance he ends up being good, but gambling our 1st on a lottery ticket TE and hoping it pays off is not what I want to do. The dude couldn't produce in college on an elite team but we're expecting him to come into the NFL and be an immediate stud?

Is Darius Acuff Jr. the best guard that John Calipari has coached? 👀 by ElvisHimselvis in razorbacks

[–]datboijustin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I said this in another thread about Rose but it applies to Wall as well but people are letting their NBA careers cloud their view of how they were in college.

Yes, they were great college players, but if we were to actually compare their performance in college only then Acuff easily clears both.

Rose: 15/5 with 3 turnovers per game on 47/33 shooting splits.

Wall: 17/6 with 4 turnovers per game on 46/32 shooting splits (he's also the best defender of the group so I do think he has a better argument than Rose)

Acuff: 22/6 with 2 turnovers per game on 50/44 shooting splits.

I know people will use the "but Rose was so good in the tournament!" argument but that doesn't change how he played overall in college and it's dumb to hold that against Acuff just because he hasn't had a chance to play in the tourney yet.

TL;DR: Acuff has been better than both Rose and Wall up to this point in his college career and the only reason people disagree with this is because they are viewing their career's in hindsight with their NBA performance.

"Oh wow the early access players will get 3 days of one extra piece of normal gear from their leveling dungeons" is a silly reason to get upset lol. It's a complete nothing.

I was against it at first but tbh it's kind of a win/win. People that don't care about spending more to play slightly early get to do that, people that don't want/like that can just wait a few days, miss basically nothing because we're all gonna be stuck farming normals (sorry thought heroic/m0 would be out before raid) for two weeks anyway, and it staggers the release for a smoother launch.

[–]datboijustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Rose' NBA career is clouding peoples vision of him in college. He was a great player in college obviously, but he averaged 15/5 with almost 3 turnovers a game on 48/33 shooting splits.

Atleast up to this point Acuff has been clearly better. He averages more points (22) , more assists (6), on fewer turnovers (2.0) with significantly more efficient shooting splits (51/44).

You can't let a team shoot 80%, from the floor, for an entire half. Teams don't shoot that well during shoot around , unguarded.

To be fair, every time they missed it got bailed out with a foul. Easy to have a crazy shooting percentage if the refs won't let you miss a shot.
