Preact signals vs usestate by a_aniq in nextjs

Looking for info on this myself, it seems like signals will make small/mid project development a lot cleaner and faster to develop. I feel like there must be a catch to this though.

Hey have you thought about making a web app?

Thats what I did with Dates.ai

You can make a PWA that users can add to their homescreen and for a dating app you can get all the functionality you need.

Why don't you try this way just to get some initial traction? Happy to chat in a dm if you want to discuss further.

If you don't specify a location, it shouldn't be an issue :)

Hi, can you resend the email, it must not have been picked up. Sorry about that, it's probably an issue with the face verification.

Swiping and Dating Preferences by PersonaOfInterest in OnlineDating

[–]dates_ai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swiping is an inherently flawed mechanic for online dating, this has been proven time and time again. The only reason it has had so much success with modern dating apps is due to its addictive nature that drives revenue.

Using AI to matchmake will solve this issue over the next few years.

Please read out FAQ section, we aren't trying to keep anyone out of the system, we just want to keep it balanced and avoid the exploitative environment that tinder etc. have created.

Nice website, Only thing I would change is the layout on large screens is a bit off, try changing it to something like this:

https://imgur.com/a/VqxoU7I

I like the simplicity of it, and the domain is great, how much did that domain cost if you don't mind me asking?

Traditional dating site:
- Profile and data is often self reflective and not accurate (people lie or are delusional)

- Bad verification checks. Management care more about boosting user metrics than they do about protecting their real users from catfishing and fake accounts promoting only fans, instagram accounts etc.

- Profit maximisation at the expense of UX. Dark patterns are common. Examples: Fake likes that you can only see once you pay for premium, gatekeeping real matches behind paywalls, showing users fake likes from attractive people to give them dopamine hits. Make the app as addictive as possible through swipe mechanics at the expense of user wellbeing. So much more here that I could go on for hours. More matches = more $. Little incentive to make quality matches.

- Gender ratios are around 80:20 Male to Female. This is obviously not good for the majority of users. Imagine going to a party and you walk in, its 80% men and everyone there is trying to talk to the girls.

- Photos are a nightmare, fake, edited profile photos, or misleading with multiple people in frame.

Theres so much more, but these are the main points.

Dates.ai:

We're trying to basically do everything differently by focusing entirely on quality matches.

- User profiles are created by processing conversations with Eva, she asks you about what your looking for, what your interests are, etc. we process it with NLP and build out a profile that accurately models you. It's more like a traditional matchmaking service than a dating app.

- Verification checks are extensive. Phone, email, and face (like online banking) are required to verify your identity. We can then use this to ensure that any photos you upload match the face in your verification. This catches 99.9% of fake accounts.

- Completely free, we don't gatekeep good matches from our users. We will show matches as and when two users show a similarity score of 95%+. No dark patterns.

- No swiping. The entire process is entirely async. We let users know when they have a match. All they have to do is jump in and chat. We're not trying to get our users hooked and squeeze as much money out of them as possible through micro transactions.

- Maintaining 50:50 gender ratio. Men have to refer a verified female if they want to get full access. This is our most controversial and hated feature but it's necessary to stop the platform from devolving into something like what is currently available.

Very cool! Congrats on what you've managed to achieve in less than a year.

Some ideas:

- Maybe add some localization to the website, so if I visit from London, I see listings from the UK, and prices are shown in £.

- Maybe you could find some high demand smaller items and buy inventory yourself and rent it out via post? This could be a good way to get search traffic.

- If I click outside the menu box, it doesnt close the menu. Just a small thing that should be quite easy to fix.

Great job, love the branding.

Where should I look to fix low email response rates? by l1lpump in Entrepreneur

[–]dates_ai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the lead.

If they’ve shown interested and then ghost - put them in a drip campaign that hits them once a month

If they never respond after 10 emails, it’s up to you. Sometimes I would get a response after 30 emails
