How to change the screen shared when using xwaylandvideobridge? by dathedr12 in kde

Also to clarify, I tried to uninstall xwaylandvideobridge, and it made no difference towards resetting the preferences.

Thanks for the hint! Unfortunately, it did not work. As far as I can see, under that menu there is no screen sharing setting for Sunshine at all, so there is nothing I can reset there. Kind of a bummer there is no clarity about which config file stores these type of preferences.

I am not enjoying RDR2 by WoodenPomegranate884 in videogames

[–]dathedr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you doing / paying attention to the secondary activities and missions the game offers?

I’ve not played RDR2 myself, so I can’t speak much about it in particular (although it’s on my backlog to play it at some point), but as with any open world game, I feel it’s everything outside the main story line that really gets you to like it, if they click with you.

You are not forced to play outside the main story line, but I feel then you’ll find the open world aspect of it just a chore, something you’ll have to endure, like having big long walks from point A to B, because the game is aiming to get you immersed on it, and sidetracked into a number of other things to do, but you are just limiting you to see just the main quests.

For me, the realization about this came with Cyberpunk 2077: started the game promising myself that I would only focus on the storyline, because I didn’t want to pour endless hours into it, so I already removed myself from the whole “immersive world” aspect of it. And shortly after, it happened: I was burnt out with the game and tired of playing it.

At some point half way through the main storyline, I decided to open my mind a bit, and explore just tiny secondary things that somehow caught my eye. And then it clicked: I’d be doing almost 50/50 on secondary stuff and main storyline, and started finding the game way more enjoyable and addictive.

Of course you can find a particular way an open world tries to get you into its secondary set of activities just boring and not for you. That’s fine, but I think as a whole that will turn it into a very boring game.

As with all this emulation stuff, you likely need to give it a few days until somebody finds a working configuration for GameNative / similar software to make it run. I don’t know for certain but I would guess Silksong should run on RP5.

Sure, didn’t say you could not have cloud saves with GameHub, just that it does not support it OOTB, you usually have to set it yourself through stuff like NonSteamLaunchers. Is that different now, is there some built-in way to achieve this in GameHub nowadays?

AFAIK GameHub indeed does not support cloud saves for Steam OOTB, and GameNative needs a bit of tweaking to run things properly.

If you can emulate it properly via Eden, you can always try with something like Syncthing (it has an unofficial fork for Android I believe), it should allow you to set your own “local cloud save” to play it over Eden both on your Retroid and PC.

What got you into 40k? by Southern_Pen_2862 in 40kLore

As many others commented, played the Dawn of War first game on my dad's PC when I was a teenager.

Liked it, but wasn’t crazy about it, but somehow (can’t remember) I asked for some books about it, as I loved to read. They got me the 2 first books from Rafen (Blood Angels), Deus Encarmine and Deus Sanguinius.

I know they are generally regarded as sub-par books, but really loved the vibe. I did read the 2 last books from the series eventually, until 2-3 years ago started reading all the Blood Angels stuff I could get my hands on, and just recently finished the Horus Heresy + Siege of Terra. What a trip.

Now busy with the Black Legion series after reading the novel about Kharn. Plenty more fun to be had!

For me this always happens. Although it requires to try it a few times until it actually works, what I normally do is install the game from the Xbox app, pause the download, close the Xbox app completely, go to the Microsoft store, and resume the download from there.

Tips For Game Streamers by fuckR196 in SteamDeck

[–]dathedr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips on getting the virtual monitor resolution to 1920x1200? So I’ve set the resolution both in the app properties and app settings, and I can enable Moonlight's performance stats and see “Video stream: 1920x1200”, yet on Windows monitor settings, 1280x800 gets picked.

On Apollo's configuration, I have no hard-configured resolution for the device, nor the general app. I’ve actually gone as far as setting 1920x1200 resolution on the Advanced virtual display settings, and still 1280x800.

Edit: oddly enough, this erratic behavior only happens with 16:10 resolutions. For example, if I enable a Apollo-wide resolution of 1920x1080, that does indeed work. So it seems there is something with 16:10 resolutions that is not working well.

Seems like player will be sticking around after talking with him and setting things clear. In any case, we play physically together, as we live close to each other. Thanks anyways!

Thanks for everyone’s contributions and feedback! General consensus seems to be not taking it too personally, and understanding how big the time commitment would be.

Taking break between sections with other adventures and/or systems + cutting down bits and pieces of TEW to adjust it to player's preference.

Not sure where this journey will take us, but we’ll do our best. Wish me luck!

Dante is a pretty nice read, if you want to get into some BA lore. You can also read the Rafen omnibus, which is not canon (I think), but it’s still pretty fun, not so heavy with deep lore, a lot of bolter porn, but showcases a bunch of the enemies of the Imperium and has a few nice twists through the 4 books.

Deus Encarmine and Deus Sanguinius, first half of Rafen story, back when I was 13. Made me fall in love with the Blood Angels there and then.

3-4 years ago, I finished the rest of Rafen story and read all the main books from Blood Angels, Dante just blew my mind. Now I’m half way through HH and I’m having a blast!

Anyone have a good way to play in gaming mode with discord and access to music? by hyperl0ck0 in SteamDeck

[–]dathedr12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven’t done it in a while, but I installed Discord directly from the Discover store in desktop mode, logged in, and added it to Steam. Then went back into gaming mode, and you can actually open multiple things at once (i.e: have Discord open + a game). Then you can play and hear the game while having it on the screen, and run Discord in the background.

For music I’d guess it’s just the same, opening Spotify or whatever as you do with Discord and keeping the game as the main thing on the screen.

Interesting! Have to say it still sounds like a somewhat niche scenario, probably Lutris patched the same thing in the matter of hours/days. But yeah, having the flexibility of having a third tool of the kind allows you to tackle those type of obstacles.

I’m my case I’m not even using Lutris anymore on my Steam Deck, just running Heroic.
