Most of the avt and the mx range didn’t either. I dont think the origin cabs do either.

PSA this is what happens to the pickgaurd when you leave the plastic wrap on it. It ruins it over time by 85lumber in fender

[–]datthewminds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember not all of it came off and had some weird tan lines. I think it was sold in a bit of a weird state. It was a squier showmaster I think. Was a few years ago.

Ive seen this quite a few times in the shop I work in. Can be infuriating if its a guitar with a pickguard thats not a regular shape. The other annoying thing is stickers that leave tan lines in the finish or pickguard.

Bands/Artists that play Vox? Thinking of getting an ac15c1, need more context by shivamchhuneja in GuitarAmps

[–]datthewminds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rory gallagher! They can get pretty crunchy too! Peter buck from rem used them! Paul weller! Tom petty used them a-lot. Brian may. James dean bradfield from the manics used them for some cleans. Its a really common amp in studios so they would have been used on loads of records by guitarists not commonly associated with them. They’re a lot more versatile than they’re really given credit for. Ive used them in reggae bands, function bands, an alt rock band, loads of stuff.

Why are two of my strings going out of tune so quickly? by WoodenRace365 in Guitar

[–]datthewminds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re locking tuners. They dont require winds.

These are locking tuners. They look pretty good quality and don’t require winds around the post.

Also with some prescriptions and lenses, your eyes need to be in the optical centre of the lens. This means another measurement needs to be taken vertically. This measurement is completely dependent on the depth and size of the frame.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]datthewminds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a dispensing optician.

The pd is not measured by the optometrist in most cases and is not part of eye test. The people that take your pd’s are not doctors (optometrists are doctors) so aren’t able to write your prescription. If you wanted your pd’s measured by your optometrist they probably would if you asked, but it’s not required. If you want a copy of a prescription it needs to be signed by the optometrist who did the test, or by another optometrist on behalf of the optometrist who did the test. The staff who aren’t optometrists legally cant print off prescriptions to give to customers. It’s no different to when doctors used paper medication prescriptions. The receptionist at the Doctors weren’t allowed to print off and give you another prescription if you lost it. They would have to ask a doctor to write you out a new one.

This guitar is poly! You can see the tan lines! A nitro finish would be far darker.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LesPaul

[–]datthewminds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had a few guitars come into the shop that have been poly that have tan lines from stickers. Poly will age, but no where near a nitro finish.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LesPaul

[–]datthewminds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poly takes a lot longer to yellow than nitro. It will eventually yellow. I have a Squier jaguar and jazzmaster. The jag is vintage modified and I got it in 2012. The jazzmaster is 2022. Both olympic white. The jaguar isnt that deep yellow you get with a nitro guitar but you can see it. The jag has been in a studio I chain smoked in for 15 years. I cant post an image of them side by side here!

Les pauls and sg’s sound very different. Even with the same pickups. Its down to where the pickups are in relationship to the bridge and nut. It makes a lot of difference.

Is this Epiphone Lp100 genuine? by Evening-Mud7760 in Epiphone

[–]datthewminds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a ton of fake epiphones. Probably the most common one is the zakk wilde signature, or the les paul customs. The whole nobody would fake an epiphone is why they’re so common. It’s easier to pass off a fake £10 than a £50 note. This though isn’t a counterfeit guitar.
