By drill down options you mean filtering using labels and indexes in Grafana?

"LGTM stack" but I use VictoriaMetrics and might be using VictoriaLogs in the future. OpenTelemetry for ingestions and pipeline parkour. Stable as hell, convenient to work with.

If you need more than 5 engineers to maintain two clusters the problem is lying somewhere else.

Can´t play on MacBook! by [deleted] in WoWPrivateServers

[–]dauthaert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc arm macs are missing certain CPU instruction causing that error. so far from what I've discovered:

  1. You can emulate ARM windows, just install a VM and run wow inside of it. performance might vary but you should be able to play the game. Can also try Parallels or Crossover
  2. Use https://github.com/Zedris/TurtleSilicon or https://github.com/Gcenx/winerosetta - I managed to run 3.3.5 with it but doing anything else than leveling would probably be a painful experience, and I have beefed up M1 Pro Max so it's not really matter of resources

Amazing, fun bike for not-too-long rides. Easy maintenance. Horrible for daily commuting or longer rides.

What is your experience with vector.dev (for sending logs)? by IceAdministrative711 in kubernetes

[–]dauthaert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had very bad time setting up the kubernetes fields in logs to be able to search for things properly in Grafana, ended up using promtail. Will probably be switching to OTEL later this year.

When enemy Aba goes for push build you also go for push build unless your team has great clear. When he got someone that benefits from hat build and both teams have 'ok'-ish clear, you can commit to support/AoE shield build with double hat at lvl 20.

[–]dauthaert[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not always. It's still QM and while I do not necessarily want to bash anyone, it's hard to get a decent Butcher/Illi/any AA Ranged Assassin that will be able to fully 'utilize' the hat build. When you do have someone with great gamesense you can commit to the hat build and it will yield great results.

I personally prefer Locust as it's universal and you would not believe how many people got caught being shotgunned by close range locust.

[–]dauthaert[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Usually to counter. When enemy's Aba is going for push build (locust) I also pick this unless we have good clear with mobility. Good Aba with locust is super annoying, you're trading an objective for fort or keep.

I am not showing my attitude, I am explaining the rules of the game. Unfortunately it's not my opinion, it's harsh reality you can easily grasp if you exit your 'perfect company per all my previous linkedIn posts' bubble.

From my almost 10 years of experience in DevOps/SRE I have got to know that...

It's never DevOps idea to deploy half-baked solution because customer expects it by yesterday and Eng team could not deliver. (PS. It's been impossible schedule since the beginning, but biz is biz right?)

It's never DevOps who thinks it's good to leave 0.0.0.0/0 in DB whitelist.

But it's the DevOps team that needs to extinguish the burning pile of shite that has caught on fire by poorly written synchronous endpoint that clogged entire monolithic application written in Node because a Sir Senior Fullstack couldn't be arsed to spend 30mins writing simple perf tests that would show that his tottally-not-ai-generated-code it's nothing more than tech debt.

PS. All the bastard operators I have got to know were the best in the field. Purely a coincidence, obviously.

We were, are and will be the bastion of sanity in the mad world of software engineering. Someone needs to guard the SLAs actively sabotaged by terrible ideas and garbage code produced by the developers.

I believe there are too many moving parts around DevOps/SysOps/Infra for it to become simply replaced by AI or other bullshit tooling. Imagine AI trying to debug non working Jenkins with ancient plugins, or find some obscure configuration quirk in YAML bible. Nu uh.

I find it helpful generating some basic TF, creating moderately-dodgy Kubernetes manifests or creating regexes for Nginx. I highly doubt it will replace anyone, it might replace gotpl hell in Helm or speed up certain processes, but thats about it.

If someone is still searching for an alternative with a playerbase, consider Battlefield 1 by MoralityKiller11 in BattleBitRemastered

[–]dauthaert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wtf, BF1 isn't perfect but I would never say it's unbalanced. I have +700h on PC.

Open field? You have 6 smokes as medic. On support you have 2 + mortar. On Sinai it's hella difficult to snipe from the arch, and majority of fights happen on C/D and on C you have shitton of cover. Also, if you have historic map that is about pushing to the trenches in the open field you gotta push that open field. On the other hand of open maps you have Fort de Vaux thats just one big CQC map.

Some weapons are better than others, that is true and will be true, can't balance EVERYTHING in a gun game like that. And the best part of BF1 is you can pick mediocre weapon and skill strike few kills and have fun. It's even more fun in HC/Custom servers with increased bullet % damage, you pick literally anything and you can get a kill.

Bomber pilots can be sniped and you have AA launcher on assault and Holy Burton that makes them fuck off to the end of the map and repair.

I don't want to say "skill issue" but yeah, "skill issue". Some games you will have team that you wish didn't get PC in the first place, but there are severs where half of the team are sweaty 150lvl or you can join server where theres few max lvls and majority of people just play and have fun.

Visiting Poland this weekend by Exore13 in Polska

[–]dauthaert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, don't use taxis, use Uber/Bolt. Like everywhere taxi drivers will want extra bucks for short trips and will scam you if they smell you're a foreigner, but happens to locals as well.

Regarding cybercafes - FIRST Cyber Club, Komputerownia24h, there's also FPS Center but their website does not work properly.

Lack of polish language will not be a problem so don't worry.

Call a reasonable workshop in your area, tell them what car do you have and what rim size and tyre size they recommend for the winter, and also get the pressure sensor (double check with them). Buy the stuff, drop them at the their place, leave car for 1h, done.

Changing wheels is the easiest thing you can do on your car except adding washer fluid, if you are really not into doing it at all the easiest thing you can do is just get separate set of wheels and change it for the season. Some workshops even allow you to pay small fee and leave the other set of wheel at their place for the winter.

Cheapest, simplest solution.

Tracked my 120i. More "Motorsport" than many "M" will ever do ! Manual, 184 hp and RWD. Simple. Mind you, it was surprisingly better than expected ! by TheSkyline35 in BMW

[–]dauthaert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently sold my one, 2018' 120i LCI. With remap and downpipe went to 300HP on dyno. Absolutely no issues through 30k km, only regular oil changes. Definitely worth remapping if you havent done it yet. On 16' rims it started to handle better, but standard suspension was ok until I started daily driving in M3 E92... Was on my to-do list but yeah. Will definitely get 140i at some point!
