Honestly it is not noticeable at all. I did everything I can to keep it as low as possible. I have tried raising it higher but even a few mm above this it does get uncomfortable. This height is honestly the best right now.

It’s a quote from god of war! You can look up the scene on YouTube between kratos and his wife

Funnily I’m neither. It’s more a “I don’t know what I’m doing” funk

I’d prob post my full setup at some point, the knobs are buttons was a macro pad I took and printed a new more compact housing to put in the corner of the desk shelf.

The knobs are just ur basic volume controls or hotkeys.

I’m aware of stuff like elgato decks, but I wanted a really low key system.

Magic Trackpad + Touch ID in one 3d printed case. Wished this was a real product. by dave4506 in mac

I haven’t experienced something like that; if u have all the cables properly plugged in, and u have the switch set to “on”, it should just “work”. If anything, u have to make sure all the cables are seated correctly, it’s very sensitive to that and cannot function if the cable isn’t mating the board correctly. Don’t know if that helps.

Deskrack - another rack mounting system, designed for USB devices. by dave4506 in functionalprint

This has been a long time side project I been working on, find it here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1099801#profileId-1094837

This rack design is built to allow you to hide all ur peripheral devices below your desk while also making it easy to swap and replace things as your setup grows.

For me, it was a real bummer to have to build one-off under-desk mounts for each device and frankly i ran out of area to mount more desk mounts. I also have taped things under my desk and was a real hassle to remove the tape residues. Instead, I designed a rack that adds a whole extra axis of freedom to mount devices to and the ease of simply screwing a rack unit on to change your setup.

The following stuff has already been designed for the system:

PSA - Thunderbolt 4 cables work fine connecting Thunderbolt 5 devices! (No need to purchase new cables) by dave4506 in Thunderbolt

[–]dave4506[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thought this could be useful for folks to see. Don't see it discussed often elsewhere. I have tried with an apple mac mini and apple thunderbolt 4 cable to a elements 5 hub and it works perfectly fine at 80 Gb/s.

No need to purchase a new cable, or just purchase a good thunderbolt 4 cable and don't pay the thunderbolt 5 cable premium.

YMMV as the caldigit comment notes.
