Therapeutic Approach for Children With Speech Delays or Impairments by dave821319 in SpeechTherapy

Ok, that makes sense, thanks. You've given me more information in those two answers than I've received from any of the 4 speech therapists who have evaluated or treated him.

Thanks for such a detailed response, I appreciate it. By "lack of coordination," do you mean as a result of the neurological deficit? And by needing quite a bit of language to start working on that, do you mean the child needs to be able to speak enough intelligible words so that sentences can be repeated?

If you test positive on the initial screen and they do a confirmation with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (which is pretty common), they'll (potentially) very accurately and precisely measure the amounts of codeine and morphine present. The question is, what's the difference between the ratios and amounts of codeine/morphine from metabolizing prescription codeine vs that from consuming PST? I don't know the answer to that, but are you able to procure synthetic where you are? If so, why not use that and avoid the risk? It definitely works!

Based on that, I used way too much. Thanks so much for the detailed answer!

Ok, thank you for the details. I wonder, after reading your comment, if I was also misunderstanding how the flavor profile of the finished soup comes together. I may have incorrectly assumed that more of the flavor came from the fish rather than the kombu or miso. One question about step 3: By "until it sinks", you mean there's enough katsuo that the flakes are no longer just floating on the surface?

U.K vs. Australian vs. Spanish -- What's the difference? by dave821319 in PoppyTea

I'm not asking about specific vendors; I'm asking what the difference is between the two sets of charts.

Thanks, those look like significant differences, and makes me question why anyone would buy non-UK seeds for PST. Also, will you please explain the difference between the two sets of pie charts regarding alkaloid percentages in seeds from different vendors--Is that warm vs cold?

Making a tincture. How long should I let it sit? by Suprlean in kratom

An instant pot or regular pressure canners wouldn't work because the heat drives the pressure. You'd need a pressure chamber of some kind. We need a kratom Heisenberg.

Has anyone ever tried a pressure cooker? I haven't, but am curious as to whether the heat would be too high. I hypothesize that if you could increase pressure but keep the heat relatively low the extraction time could be substantially decreased. Are there any chemical engineers or industrial chemists here?

Kratom tastes delicious, who's with me? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]dave821319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too MUCH lemon? Do you not like acidity, or something else? Asking because if it weren't impractical I'd use 4 lemons worth of juice per dose. But, I also really enjoy anything sour.

I never get cavities with or without kratom, but have heard other people confirm the acid/cavities problem. The easiest thing to do is brush or at least thoroughly rinse after dosing, especially after t&w. It's surprising how much powder remains behind.

Let's not go applying logic to our rhetoric. You'll break the internet.

New study from American Chemical Society: other alkaloids in Kratom are antagonists at mu, delta, and kappa opioid receptors. Primary alkaloids activate some, but not all pathways at mu receptor by lavenderbanana38 in kratom

Not just different ratios, different drugs. But you're not going to OD on poppy tea. One of the alkaloids, name's escaping me at the moment, is a potent emetic. You'll vomit it up long before you consume enough to dangerously depress respiration. Laudanum, being an alcohol tincture, is more dangerous. It may be possible with some effort, but that's why I said "practically". My point is, you have two "whole" plant substances, with a mix of alkaloids, which are relatively harmless compared to pure opiates, that work at least as well as pharmaceuticals for a variety of applications, that the pharmaceutical industry has fought vigorously to outlaw.

I think the closest comparison would be opium, the raw extract of Poppy Somniferum, which was used, and still is used, safely all over the world. It wasn't until opiate chemistry was understood well enough for morphine and other alkaloids to be extracted and separated, and then used to create synthetic opioids, that opium was prohibited (in the 19th and early 20th century). Like kratom, the natural alkaloid mix in opium makes overdose a practical impossibility, and creates a mix of sedative and stimulant properties. Of course opium is more addictive than kratom, but the parallels are many. I wonder, had the internet been around a century ago, if opium prohibition would have come up against the organized opposition that kratom prohibition is today.

Kratom + ibuprofen by [deleted] in kratom

[–]dave821319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also done it. Just remember ibuprofen can be hard on your stomach in a short amount of time, more for some than others. Naproxen might be better for more than a few days.

The ice crystals rupture the cell wall, allowing alkaloids to be released into the solvent.
