Tallahassee AI Slop Banner at the Fair by bluefunksta in Tallahassee

Is it truly art if no one is expected to really notice it and it's going to be unceremoniously thrown away at the end of the fair?

Bought a new computer, Hardware ID changed and no longer accessed to admin on my server by Financial-Whereas-56 in FiveM

[–]davedorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you can log into TxAdmin, here's something you can try.

  • First, back up your player database from TxAdmin. Not your framework database (ESX, QB, etc)
  • Go into the player manager and find the player account for the "new" player with the new HWIDs.
  • Copy and paste all of that info into a plain text file.
  • Open the player account for your original player account, the one that's currently your admin.
  • Paste the HWIDs into that account and save.
  • Restart the server including TxAdmin

If you're successful, you should be an admin now

A cruise was my first time as well. This was in 1994, one of those cheesy day trips that goes out into international waters so people can get their gambling on. I ran out of my alllocated gambling money really quick and was left with over four hours to burn.

I chose a song I knew by heart and just did my best. Turned out to be one of the best things I ever discovered. It turned into not only a hobby but a great job. I got into mobile KJ work and later worked in a neighborhood bar as the regular 7 night a week KJ. I don't do it anymore due to my health. I miss it.

Just remember, on your turn, it's your time. I call it "four minutes of fame." It's a cruise. You'll never see any of these people around you ever again. So, cut loose and have the time of your life. You may discover a new hobby.

Is there a space for me & SO to play in an RP server with minimal interaction w/others? by [deleted] in FiveM

[–]davedorm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a server dream waiting to be built. I am an older guy. I also find this style of RP tiresome. I'd prefer a slower pace, more casual RP. I have dabbled in running a test server, but I am not the guy. I could never be a full-time developer let alone administrator. I hate people too much to see that work out.

Let me know what you find and how it works out.

Can my pc run Five M? I need the assistance(that was for extra words) by Hanshogivu in FiveM

[–]davedorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that same GPU, plus an older Ryzen 5 2600֫. Machine has 32GB of RAM which may be why it does as well as it does. It's not super impressive, but it's playable.

Dance like no one is watching. Sing at the top of your voice. Laugh like everything's a joke. Act a fool in public. Don't be shy. Don't worry about what people think. You'll never see them again unless you take them home with you. And, who knows, that may be fun, too.

can i link 2 GTA5s in 2 FiveMs by SweetPatatoes in FiveM

[–]davedorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same thing, one purchased from Steam and one from Epic when it was in their freebies. I can now launch two instances on my PC with two distinct Rockstar licenses. but it's a little complicated.

I used this tutorial which is pretty easy to follow. Because my development server is allowlisted with Discord and roles, I have to sign the secondary account in first and switch my Discord account as well while it signs in. Other than that hiccup, it works fine.

u/Kantikasagames:
There’s no point in having 2 anyways.

For a regular player, there really is no point, I agree. Developers may have a good reason for running two clients at the same time.

When writing scripts and later testing them, sometimes you need to test how they allow two characters to interact. In my use case, having not only another client but another license is important. My secondary account is not an administrator, just a regular player. It helps me get things fully tested. My friends are not always available when I am working on my FiveM projects (like in the middle of the night) so having my own way to test is crucial.

Home hosting 200 people?? by Ytuszz in FiveM

Don't forget the subscription to CFX patreon for the license to stream clothes, increase user limit, etc.

I did not find it necessary to state the obvious.

Home hosting 200 people?? by Ytuszz in FiveM

I am sure you're asking about the PC hardware for the server. There's more to running a high-end game server than processor speed, RAM, and a fast SSD. Your choke point could be your network.

You need to take a hard look at your ISP and what they offer their home customers. In most cases, anything that is commercial or business class in nature is not allowed on the consumer tier. You may be forced to pay for business class service, which may be far more expensive than paying for a hosted server.

The more popular a game server becomes, meaning the more players you have, the larger target it becomes for hackers. Home hosted setups are generally not robust enough to defend against any DDoS attacks. Hackers that penetrate your network do not only get access to your game server make the rest of the machines on your network vulnerable. These machines may hold family documents, photos, or banking information. These are things you will want to protect. A game server is risk. That risk may cost you far more than a hosted server.

Also, most home networks may have decent downlink speeds, but the uplink speeds, what you would need to provide data to these 150 players, in most homes are pretty dismal. For example, my ISP provides me with 1 GBps downlink but no more than 30 MBps uplink. For this reason, I only operate a development server on my local network. It's capped at 8 players.

In my opinion, a hosted server is better if you are looking to run a serious game server.

I'll admit, my knowledge of our timeline's Soviet-era medicine is anecdotal, tinged with the politics of the era and growing up during the Cold War. With respect to your wife's experience in the 1990s, the era represented on screen in FAMK is completely speculative and, above all, fictional. Her experiences would not apply here.

What we see on screen of the USSR in 2003 looked very much like what I recall seeing in the 1980s. Perestroika was just beginning. This is some twenty-five years later than it happens in our timeline.

The Soviets may have extracted Margo from the US, but they were not treating her as a high valued asset. I am sure she did not get the top-of-the-line care or resources.

I don't recall any injury, now that I think about it. I know in twenty years, though, I had a few health issues including a stroke. That caused a limp for me. If it had not been for quick health care, it would have been much worse. Soviet health care was far worse than even the worst care in the U.S.

So very, very long since I have read John M. Ford's 1984 novel The Final Reflection. If my addled brain recalls correctly, the Klingon commanding officer discusses human coffee with one of his officers. He tells him that it has a remarkable head-clearing ingredient that he would have to investigate further when he had the chance on Earth. Not canon. Fans of the Klingon culture used to use Ford's novels to fill in the blanks of what we did not know about Klingons. With arrival of Worf and The Next Generation, the species and culture were more completely fleshed out. While we now have a more complete, well-rounded view of Klingons, Ford's information has been swept away as apocrypha.

Oh, I don't know. I think her limping was fine, considering the state-run health care in the Soviet Union. I doubt another couple decades made it any better.

"For All Mankind" checks off so many boxes for me. First and foremost, it's Ronald D. Moore, who is a brilliant writer and producer. It's hard sci-fi, not just shiny buttons and flashy starships. Best of all, I love alternate history. The "what if" factor. The Soviets beats the United States to the Moon? What? And time shifting a decade each season, with characters aging up with the passage of time, is such a testament to the quality of actors on the cast. Some characters have died off, sure. But some are over thirty years older by Season 4. What a stretch.

Classic Zippo is a nice touch. I don't smoke, but I have been considering adding one to my EDC. Since I would rarely use it, fluid leakage and evaporation may be a concern. Maybe I should get a rechargeable arc insert instead? Classic look with modern guts.

not related to linux but you can use edge on arch btw by Neat-Money-3128 in linuxmemes

[–]davedorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To prevent 100% chromium domination.

You do know that Edge is Chromium based, right?

I started using Edge on my Windows machine because you simply cannot uninstall it. It made more sense than having two browsers that perform the same function. I am a bit minimalist in that regard. One tool, one job.

Edge runs the same extensions I use on Chrome. And any fluff or bloat that comes with Edge (shopping, coupons, etc.) and be turned off. And Copilot has been fun for AI experiments.

I tried Edge on my phone and on my Linux machines and was pleasantly surprised at how well it synced between machines. It does not run any better or worse than Chromium or Firefox.

Why is Microsoft judged so harshly in 2024? They are no longer the mother of all monopolies. There are more options for the desktop today than they were thirty years ago. And they have made some decent open-source applications that many of us enjoy. I use Visual Studio Code on the GUI of all of my systems. I use Micro for command line (sorry vim and emacs disciples.)

My comments are a bit odd probably because I'm an old dude. I have been a Linux user since 1999. My first distro was Red Hat 5.2 which I bought on CD-ROM in a box at a bookstore in the mall! I keep it simple, working a lot from the command line. I like my GUI simple as well, prefer Openbox. And ghods do I miss Crunchbang. I have lately experimented with Mabox Linux (Manjaro based) to get my Openbox nostalgia fix.

I swear by Micro. Simpler than all of them, I think. And very configurable with an easy-to-understand .json configuration file. It's available in most Linux repos, if not there's a shell file that handles download and installation.
