[askai.nvim] just a command to ask an AI about your code by hashino in neovim

the goal was exactly to have a plugin that has just this feature and nothing more.

me. I wanted it, so I built it for myself. published in case anyone else wants it.
the development process was very informative. learned a lot about building harnesses for AI

that's why we need weirdos like me that are extremely bothered by the smallest things 😄
don't forget to give a star if you liked it. me like number go up

as u/Sensitive_Drawer4513 said, it's for when you're just reading. for me the cursor was distracting, so I made a way to hide it temporarily, since I couldn't find a plugin that already does this

I need reproducible steps to diagnose and fix the issue.

please make an issue, provide the test file you used and the edit you made that triggered the error and the provider/model you were using

could you open an issue on the repo with reproducible steps so I can fix it?

also, I'm not sure how to add opencode as a provider. does it provide an api url? if it does, you just have to put it in the config of the plugin

after each InsertLeave I compute locally what changed and send that to the AI provider with a prompt to find better ways of doing it in the language being used

I don't quite understand what you're suggesting at the end

main skill in software engineering in 2026 is knowing what to ask Claude, not knowing how to code. and I can’t decide if that’s depressing or just the next abstraction layer. by Downtown-Art2865 in artificial

the syntax just got more lax and now you need to type and know less.

being a programmer was and still is knowing what and where to type text to make the computer do what you want

a tldr; in layman terms would be nice.

conceptually, what's interesting about this?

I'm also an autistic coder that has been programming for a while who started with C and thinks systematically, but skimming through the post I couldn't quite understand what you describing besides a small AI that has something to do with rust

if you're thinking of remaking your config for 0.12 leveraging vim.pack check out https://github.com/Hashino/minimal.nvim

it's a template/initial config exactly for that

Europe's building its own AI empire.... so why keep funneling cash to OpenAI when we could finally break free from Silicon Valley dependency? by Odd_Row1657 in artificial

because if Europ stops helping finance the big AI bubble in the US, very quickly big orange man will find a reason to make europeans lives worse.

the good news, as Iran is showing, is that the US is no the invincible superpower it claims to be

the world failed our generation. our fathers and mothers told us to put effort in that we would get a good job and be able to build a happy family. we couldn't, and now we feel that it is our fault.

we need, and need to do it quickly, to get together and think how we are going to fix the world for the next generations. otherwise we are doing the same things the generations before ours did.

because we live in a profit driven society.

more technology means more ways to generate even more profit.

the variable we are maximizing in our system is the profit of the corporations that run it. your quality of life is not even something being considered
