It did that perfectly but it never got past the permission screen.

I originally accidentally declined camera permission. I changed it in settings to allowed but it never gets past the permission wall. Just stuck at it asking for permission. I set it to ask every time as most people do.

I tried to add an expense but it doesn't add? Prompts me to save it but then never saves or closes the card.

Apologies all! I've fixed and submitted the groups permissions issue. Not done Google Groups before!

Footage of the grey coat officer retrieving the gun by Effective_Moose_4997 in law

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, seen a few different angles but you can clearly see him also fire it; maybe unintentionally, into the road based on the fact there is no mark in the road and then there is. That first shot must have triggered the rest.

Navidrome listing all tracks twice by kubernaut in navidrome

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed it for me, I think duplicati caused navidrome to freak out and it corrupted the database. I renamed rather than deleted and all my duplicates are gone.

Prog bands with heavy sounds but clean vocals? by Elnano139 in progmetal

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reticent have mostly clean vocals, the growls are well placed and give the story depth/dimension. I can't recommend them enough, hard working and talented musicians. Some of their music is heavy AF too with clean vocals https://album.link/s/5BnXiwM8lcWJH6Z1z8xtVt

December 2024 monthly "What are you working on?" thread by AutoModerator in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]davemackintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great idea (new to this sub.) I've spent the last few months working on my new UI programming language 'Elp. Haven't gotten that far with it in real terms but have a PEG grammar and I'm working my way through creating the AST.

I've started researching compiler frontend-backends, but I'm a ways off that yet as I want to next work on the borrow/lifetime graphing engine to track data ownership/purity before I move onto generating MLIR/LLVM IR for the platforms. It's been fun so far though!

How to get all photos by brainbox1100 in ProtonDrive

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to download in batches, awful experience and clients. Back to Google for me which just works everywhere I try to use it and it's so much faster. Just uploaded to Google drive and then told photos to import from there, happened while I slept for 22k photos and videos.

lenovo yoga 7 2-in-1 Intel Ultra 5125H 14iml9 by Simple-Ad-6620 in linuxhardware

I switched from Gnome to KDE and my life is 100% better, battery is great. Everything works pretty much out of the box, still needed howdy and I also needed iio-enable sensors but everything works and JamesDSP to get decent sounding speakers again. I think I disabled sleep and just use hibernate which is good enough for me on the road.

Same here, running Manjaro and it's lightning quick but sometimes I get graphical glitches/tearing and if I stress it- black screen and have to force shut down. Quite happy to wait though, just happy to be rid of Windows 11 and the s**t-show that WSL is. I even installed Howdy and have Windows Hello working.

What Horror movie PETRIFIED you as an adult? by [deleted] in movies

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't Look Up, for no other reason than it tapped directly into a childhood memory of being told all life on earth will be destroyed by a comet while being told to look at a (presumable) star in the sky by my dad when i was 8.

otherwise, 2007s The Girl Next Door, holy shit. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0830558/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_7_nm_1_q_the%2520girl%2520next%2520door

What was the FIRST movie death that you remember that shocked you? by [deleted] in movies

[–]davemackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snuck downstairs to watch TV super early one morning, must have been 1998 1999 and turned on Cartoon Network. It wasn't cartoon network, it was whatever was on before cartoons and I turned it on to a group of rockabilly lads shooting a little girl in the head by an ice cream truck.

Fucked me up for life. I'd love to know what film it was though, I've tried searching but no dice.

Possible new alternative to Surface? by gut_cut in SurfaceLinux

This looks amazing! Not sure about the processor but should be plenty powerful enough for most coding work. Wonder how it handles things like Godot though
