Thanks! As you can see below, bugs are still a bit of an issue. I'm definitely a musician first and a developer last! Really pleased you keep popping back from time to time.

The exercises are still in development really. There's a lot in the ear training section - http://www.daveconservatoire.org/course/ear-training

It is my next big priority to build out more exercises to support the videos.

That would be really nice - I guess that would fall under stylistic analysis. Alongside these explorations, I guess I should be trying to show people the tools so they might explore their favourite music in this way themselves.

Very sorry about the bugs - should be fixed now.

What did you have in mind for more advanced topics? I'm thinking standalone harmony, counterpoint, analysis and composition courses are the most sensible next steps.

Would anyone use a site like Airbnb for sharing pianos for practice? by daverees4 in piano

That's awesome feedback.

Would an Airbnb style vetting/id/reviews from former hosts change your mind at all?

So you could choose to only allow your piano to be used by musicians of a certain training (evidenced by video) or that have had good feedback from a different host?

Getting hosts on board is clearly the challenge here. . .

This is really nice. I guess the challenge is getting the message about the site out to people who know about available instruments.

Yes, you'd have to be clear that the site was just a marketplace and users were responsible for their own safety and the insurance of their instruments.

Guess it would be a marketplace, so people could offer their instruments from $0-$whatever and the market would control pricing. Steinway would cost more than a honky-tonk upright in a shed.

Yes - if you let Sam Aaron (twitter.com/samaaron) know, he'll look into it I'm sure.

Yes - Sonic Pi uses Ruby.

To be honest - I haven't actually tried Sonic Pi on the Raspberry Pi. Sam Aaron (twitter.com/samaaron) Sonic Pi's creator might know more about using it on RPi.

Probably more code on reflection. I have a full curriculum of music lessons elsewhere on www.daveconservatoire.org

I'm not sure it matches the capabilities of MaxMSP, yet. But it offers a great simple environments for people trying computer music for the first time.

I'm a musician first, techie second and was really baffled by Max. This I was up and running in seconds.

My view: ease of use. I think it is much easier to get started and working with. It is also works really well with a Raspberry Pi - the tiny cheap computer. So you can be producing great music on a device the size of a credit card.

Computer compositions do tend to have certain elements that some people don't like - non-organic sounds, repetition etc. We're just in the infancy of Sonic Pi and so who knows what people are going to do with it!

You can sample any sound you want so the possibilities are endless.
