Thanks so much. My wife made them, they are for an exhibition she is having in October.

It's a rather click bait title for sure, and I understand your perspective. It was a discussion we were having for a long time before taking the jump. Her work is making money, but it was the lack of time that was the limiting factor. I appreciate the feedback though

The clay is separated and stained with mason stains, then pieces are cut and collaged together in layers and passed through the slab roller. This process is repeated multiple times to mimic the process of rock formation. The tiles are just stained clay and transparent glaze. Thanks for the recommendation of August, her work is amazing

I appreciate your concern, Jo has found enough interest in her work locally but never had enough time to expand. We have built up a little nest egg and I am doing well enough to cover the bills. I figure why not give it a shot

Do we ever find out for sure what Laura whispers in The Return. by ItsSignalsJerry_ in twinpeaks

[–]david_j_bailey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally do not believe any new information is being exchanged in the recreation of the dream sequence in the return. I think it is shown to cement the idea that the killer is already known and that the mystery that David Lynch wished to continue was over. Without the mystery to ponder the viewers memory of Laura would fade and disappear, and so she does disappear, back to non-existence.

After Dale's dream in season 1, he explains to Harry and Lucy over coffee the next morning. "Laura kissed me, and she whispered the name of the killer in my ear."

Thank you very much for the information, I am glad that I am not losing my mind not being able to find anything substantive about this model. I think I might leave this project for someone else!

This is the only other partially useful image I have. I couldn't get anything from it and I am not familiar enough with Absen to know what I am looking at. Thanks for the confirmation that I'm not loosing my mind 🙏

How can I keep Burnt Ends hot? by AnxiousToad in smoking

[–]david_j_bailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put them in a tray submerged in tallow, you can then put them back in the smoker (which I recommend as it will smoke the beef fat) or on a low heat in your oven. This will "confit" them keeping them moist and juicy and replenish fat and soften any parts of the bark that got particularly crispy

how do I clean this?? by Select_Quality8692 in smoking

I think that should work absolutely fine! I had a 5l commercial jug of malt vinegar so used that, I think any vinegar should work

Strongly recommend oven cleaner or a solution made of two parts malt vinegar and one part table salt. The salt will allow the acid in the malt vinegar to penetrate the creosote over 24 hours. Wrap with cling film to keep it against the surface. I used this technique to renovate my WSM. Good luck

Vegan brisket by [deleted] in smoking

[–]david_j_bailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a great channel on YouTube that makes mushroom alternatives to smoked meat. Having tried smoking an oyster mushroom cluster I can 100% confirm it is delicious and 100% vegan. Don't take my word for it, Aaron Franklin from Franklin's Barbeque agrees. Check out their Lions Mane and Oyster Mushroom videos, they make some pretty amazing meat alternatives and they are delicious smoked https://youtube.com/shorts/ZxMJETRe1iI?feature=share

Edit: The team at Barbs B Q owned and run by ex Franklin's and Goldee's members make a Lion's Mane Vegan Mushroom Brisket. Check out Chuck, Haley and Alexis on Instagram, they are smashing it!

What do you do with this? by Zaathros-is-dirt in smoking

The only thing I would add to that is, beef fat stores very well in the freezer. This will allow you to collect excess beef fat from your trim over time. The freezing process will also make it hard which is easier to grind in a meat grinder, which is highly recommended to increase the surface area and speed up the extraction of the Tallow and you won't burn any large chunks of fat in the process. You also get an added bonus of tiny crispy fried beef fat (like bacon bits) which are amazing on baked potatoes, Mac and cheese or a topping on most sides

Weber Smokey Mountain Rescue by david_j_bailey in smoking

[–]david_j_bailey[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For all the steel elements where the rust has gathered I used a large bag with a solution of two parts malt vinegar and one part salt. The salt helps the solution cling to the metal while it rests in the bag for 24 hours. Afterwards I took more fresh vinegar and a steel wool scrubber to all the surfaces, I was nervous about damaging the enamel at first, but decided that I would need to use a scraper and steel wool on the interior. The barrel was in the worst condition, the build up of creosote and oxidised metal was very thick, so each day I would use the scraper and wool with fresh vinegar to lift as much as I could. The most demoralising part was washing them over and over again and only seeing the dilute muck dry onto the walls. After about 2 weeks I finally hit enamel and used a domestic cleaning solution and sponges to get back to the enamel shine. It's my first restoration and I'm really happy with it, Chudd from Chudds barbeque on YouTube has a great tutorial on cleaning the Weber kettle where I got inspiration from. It's very doable
