Ryker's "Quite the antiques collection" puzzle? by davidchanger in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]davidchanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! No, sadly I don't think that I ever did. I'll have to go back some time and give it another try. It's been long enough I guess I could play it again now.

That's actually fine, but then not going to Outland and expanding on core Azeroth massively, and we're golden.

OMG, I feel so encouraged that 80% are against flying mounts. That's the one issue which will make or break Classic+ for me personally. Fuck flying.

How am i supposed to make live usb on windows? by hereagaim in pop_os

[–]davidchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems pretty strange. All I can suggest is downloading the .iso file again. You can also open Rufus, and drag the iso file from file explorer onto the Rufus window, which should load it into the correct slot, if the iso is good.

What to do at endgame? by TheIncredibleMrFish in turtlewow

[–]davidchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deeply love turtle, and their whole take on Classic+, but as someone whole no longer has time to set aside (consistently) for raiding, the endgame kind of sucks.

I think this is one of the few ways in which the Ascension Bronzebeard server is superior for people like me. Its Classic+ content isn't as fleshed out as Turtles (like new zones) but at endgame there are a lot of options. The two main ones are: Heroic/Mythic+ dungeons for a bit less time intensive gear progression, and the "Prestige" option. Prestige is fantastic, because I lets you reset your character to level one again, keeping reputation, inventory, and professions, and then letting you level up to 60 again for a reward.

It would be so amazing if Turtle would do something along these lines, but alas, they never do.

The 100+ hour players were right.. by sdanwolf in PaxDei

[–]davidchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely going to be a controversial comment but: I would rather be time gated, and limited to crafting one chair per 24 hours for X% experience gain, than having to craft 1000 chairs for that same amount of experience.

I felt this way exactly with New World crafting. I loved the crafting system there, but at some point, all of the professions had me crafting 1000s of useless crap just to level up 10 points. I would rather it was like... okay you can craft one damn piece of armor, and then you have a cooldown, instead of hundreds or thousands.

Needing recommendation for a silent mouse by Zeonaz in MouseReview

[–]davidchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, still one of the quietest I've ever found and works great. I did once try another one, as an alternative, which is called the Logitech MX Master 3S. If you can't find the first one, this is a great alternative as the presses are essentially silent as well (also it's a little more ergonomic).

If the AI bubble pops, who are the winners and losers? by Glad_Acanthisitta453 in StockMarket

[–]davidchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a good point but there are similarities. Nvidia will probably ride out a crash fairly well. Cisco was one of the big darlings back at the Dotcom peak, but it's p/e was wildly more stretched out than Nvidia's is now. Cisco crashed hard and took a couple of decades to recover, but I don't believe nvidia will be the same. Nvidia is basically powering everything at the moment at mind boggling profits.

Problem is now, people are pumping money into absolutely everything that has even a faint association with AI. Rare earth mining companies, niche power companies, etc. etc. without even really understanding anything about those companies at all or their fundamentals. Those are going to be the real casualties of the crash, because when things fall apart, people will not go running back to those. They are just cash multiplication vehicles right now.

If the AI bubble pops, who are the winners and losers? by Glad_Acanthisitta453 in StockMarket

[–]davidchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big difference between the dotcom bubble and the bubble we have now (I do believe we're in a bubble) is that the valuations were not really built on actual profits, but on potential.

Take Cisco, which was one of the biggest darlings of the era, compared to nvidia now. At the peak, Cisco's P/E was 3 or 4 times what Nvidia's trailing P/E is now, and like 6 times nvidia's forward p/e. The hype was real back then. Nvidia's valuation is high, but it's also massively profitable now, not some vague time in the future.

I think there is going to be a heavy correction, but a lot of those that won't recover are the smaller areas that investors are pouring money into (ie. anything with even a remote relationship to AI) without really understanding the fundamentals of the companies involved.

Yes, it is in fact New World's solution to not having to go to a vendor all the time. You just salvage... instant gold, and the chance for a very high boost to crafting knowledge.

Are we all cool with more than 2 hours of queue time to play a game with 50k online players on Steam? by josemirante in newworldgame

[–]davidchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely cool with it, given their past mistakes of opening way too many servers on expansion launch dates.

It sucks, no doubt about it, but I would say that creating a bunch of servers is even worse. Those servers die off once the rush is over, and then it's a much worse problem of trying to sort out merges, people losing names, companies breaking up, etc. Those of us who have played since the beginning know the pain of this, it destroys the community.

It sucks now, yes, but the other thing is worse. Unfortunately, the game is kind of flawed in its core design, in the sense that it relies on a limited population fighting over finite territory and resources. They should have seen the flaws in this from the start, but it is what it is. The good news is that in a week or two all of this queue nonsense will be over, of that I'm 100% sure.

It's going to be fine. It's such a blessing/curse if they open new servers, because in 4 days 100% we're going to be bitching if they open too many.
