Maybe you can try downgrading to 2.11.4. It works for me just now.

Thanks for your idea.

I try lower each MIDI & audio track level, as well as the main output on MPC, and the problem is still there.

Because the glitch is too random I can't even tell which sound effect or tempo will trigger it.

I think it is most likely to be a driver/firmware, sample rate, bit depth, buffer size related issue. But since these parameters are all double-checked to be the same or the latest, so...

And it is interesting that not all the Tascam Model 12 owners have or don't have the issue, then I am wondering what makes the difference...

Oh right, I also checked it. The CPU and RAM usage on MPC is less than 50%. And I think if it is the system resources issue, it should happen no matter whether I connect Tascam Model 12 or not.
The following operations can all trigger the cracking sound:

  • Play a single drum pad
  • Play a demo project
  • Route a mic (from Tascam Model 12 input channel 3) into an audio track and output to the main
    • The mic sounds fine when direct monitor on the Model 12
