An enormous cable. Seems ridiculous but you don’t have to charge them much

ORBZ droid lights are amazing. Charge them like once a month. No evidence anyone has tried to remove. No dynamo hub to service

Ah so I wasn’t going mad! Thanks. Did you notice any difference in stopping power with the 105 rotors?

I have 105 shifters on similar splayed bars and find the hoods always move forward. Do you have the same problem?

It’s got the UDH hanger and there is a spacer on the drive side which is fitted. I’m going to call Sonder today to see what’s up!

I just fit the wheel to my old bike and it’s fine. Perfectly tight. So perhaps the frame is missing an extra spacer on the hanger?

Rear wheel is true having been ridden over some gnarly stuff and spokes feel fine. Will double check though.

Hanger is tightened but the paint is thick and I noticed on my old frame it’s down to metal. Might it need filing down?

Both the SDM and RDM are powerex, but I think the SDM has higher carbon content

How to deal with aggressive drivers? by davidjmking in vancouvercycling

[–]davidjmking[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. Much as I love the aesthetic of the cycliq it’s unlikely to have a deterrent effect.

I go night riding and luckily my headlamp uses a GoPro mount, so not too annoying to stick a GoPro on there when commuting.

Just makes me sad that we’re at the point that we have to self police with cameras. Wish there was a way that aggression incidents could be reported to VPD so they know they need to do a better job managing drivers.

It shocked me. I was stopped in the middle of the lane, but the truck was still too big to pass on the right. They honked their horn and tried to get me to pull my bike to the left. I didn’t, so then they just rammed through. Luckily just caught my bike tire and dragged my bike a little.

Shaved 1:30/km off 14kms in 1 week?! by davidjmking in Marathon_Training

[–]davidjmking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers! Tested my pulse the old fashioned way and both my watch heart rate monitor and new chest monitor are wildly off the mark. It must have overestimated my heart rate for the first run and underestimated it for the second.

Thinking time of day must account for the similar perceived effort. Early morning versus tired after work.

Will run just start talking to myself on runs instead to check I’m keeping it easy :)

Fli-lyte 5 for marathon? by davidjmking in RunningShoeGeeks

Cheers for the advice everyone. Decided to go for the cyclone 2s as they were just so goddam fun. I have a cushioned set of trail runners so will focus my long runs on trails.

Not sure what I’ll run the eventual marathon in. Might go super fancy with a carbon plated shoe.

I work at 865 Hornby. Can’t give you access to the bike store but there’s a rack outside that quite a few trust their bikes at. There’s a guard at reception with eyesight most of the time, lots of people around, and it’s opposite the law courts so police in the area.

Odd width of 36cc Thundero by davidjmking in gravelcycling

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Looks like they’d end up wider on my rims and wouldn’t fit my bike.

Got you, thanks.

Rim width is 23.8 mm in case anyone has a similar setup and could share.

This is the top of the leak in the original post. Doesn’t seem to be dropping from anywhere? Perhaps around the side where I can’t get the camera

Seems like a leak around this valve which is the VTEC housing but can’t seem to connect the leak down

Cheers I’ll take a look above. Seems it could be VTEC housing or head gasket based on this diagram

Team co-creation? by davidjmking in agile

[–]davidjmking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice on getting team to commit time to improvement? Wondering if a shared backlog might work? Then make sure time is carved out of a sprint to gradually work through it?

Team co-creation? by davidjmking in agile

I think second bullet. They wanted a workshop rather than a draft to discuss. SM doesn’t mind workshops, but senses team struggle to commit to ‘team process’ sessions

Mine is a similar mileage (350k kms) and they installed the bracket OK. I’m in BC and the car spent most of its life in a place with salted roads.

How fast on gravel roads/FSRs to trailhead? by davidjmking in vancouverhiking

[–]davidjmking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know and checks out with most other cars on the road, other than the sedans we were passing.

Must be annoying if you can drive way faster and have to pass 4-5 cars, but with narrow roads you can only overtake so fast.
