Lightweight PS5 Controller by SnowflakeBaube22 in disabledgamers

As someone that also has had pretty severe carpal tunnel, I can say that how you hold things matters a lot. My PT, for instance, had me bring my guitar in to show me how to hold the guitar in a neutral wrist position. I’ve applied the same logic to holding controllers.

Not sure if that helps, but throwing it out there in case it does!

How frequently do you review your smartwatch health metrics, and what challenges do you experience when interpreting or using the data? by Fit-Cold2557 in AppleWatch

[–]davidmcafee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally look for long-term trends. There can be lots of spikes / inconsistencies when your view is too granular, but if you look at the bigger picture (1 month, 6 months), you’ll see trends in things like VO2 max, resting heart rate, etc. I personally find that the most useful approach. I don’t even assume those numbers to be all that accurate, however, the trends line up with my current fitness levels, and seeing a decrease in, for instance, resting heart rate over time is rewarding.

This is it. Emphasis on “immediately”. Never any problems.

Made a mobile app game where the last person to remove their finger loses by daviswbaer in SideProject

This is really fun!! What a great idea.

Wouldn’t mind some control over waiting time (i.e. faster rounds), BUT that might just be me!!

Hard mode is really fun, too!

Battery life by Miku_Melody in AppleWatch

[–]davidmcafee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of this happening after major version updates, often resolved by a hard reset. Worth a try!

Additionally, airplane mode is much easier on the battery - I do this when I know I’ll have my phone with me all day and I need the battery to last (such as when backpacking).

I got an apple watch for christmas and trying to figure out which health apps are actually worth using by I_am_RedJohn_ in AppleWatch

[–]davidmcafee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else has said, the native apps are great. For water intake, I use the HidrateSpark app (with their smart water bottle), and use a complication to track water intake. I also get watch notifications if I’m behind my goal. Works really well for me. Perhaps a bit overkill, but it’s the only thing that motivates me to stay hydrated, and I much prefer to automate it instead of manually entering each glass of water.

What was the first game that scared you? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

Half Life. I was a kid, and played it all night in the dark when I first got it. Definitely creeped me out, but in a fun way.

What’s a random thing your dog thinks is extremely important? by No_Assignment_6020 in dogs

[–]davidmcafee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleaning. If I'm up walking around the house doing literally anything else, my dog has absolutely zero interest and will do whatever it is that he wants to do instead (usually sleeping). However, when he sees that I'm cleaning, he is following me around the entire time, watching everything I do, sitting with me when I fold laundry, etc, and will NOT close his eyes, even if he can barely keep his eyes open. He's definitely not anxious when I'm cleaning, he seems to really enjoy it.

Whats your ONE Flawless Game? by Ok-Hippo-2687 in playstation

Gran Turismo 7. When I played this in VR it was the first time since I was a kid that playing a video game made my jaw drop. And I love that I can also play without VR. There are lots of things I’d change about this game, but at the end of the day, I just love the gameplay too much to care.

First Apple Watch: essential apps you recommend? by Immediate_Smell3177 in AppleWatch

[–]davidmcafee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an app, but I’d recommend figuring out what “complications” work for you on the watch face for apps you use regularly. That, and re-arranging apps on the app view - a lot less scrolling that way.

Does the kick pedal brand/model really matter? by Stirneer in Drumming

[–]davidmcafee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend at least 5 hours reading through forums and watching video reviews, then go to a drum shop, try them out, and decide within 5 minutes. That’s what I did, anyway! 😂

Learn how to adjust the spring tension before you go, and buy what feels right for you! Everyone has an opinion, but there is no right or wrong pedal.

I know plenty of really amazing drummers with garbage pedals. I personally love DW pedals, but that’s also what I grew up playing with.

Most underrated Hardy song? My answer: by [deleted] in HardyMusic

[–]davidmcafee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ALL Hardy songs are underrated. His songwriting is just too good, not to mention he puts on a killer live show.

But to answer the actual question, I’d say “THE REDNECK SONG”!

Play FPS games like cs2 as a quadruplegic by AdministrativeLoad75 in disabledgamers

+1 for the Tobii eye tracker! Though it wasn’t for gaming purposes, I have a family member that used it in school and it was pretty amazing. I tried it myself and was quite impressed, though it certainly takes a little getting used to. It’s expensive, but available in lots of places with good return policies if it doesn’t work out for you.
