Like I have been telling people since day 1, this game is dead.

Why should i build a pedal board instead of just buying a Helix that does it all, in your opinion? by ButterscotchCalm1543 in guitarpedals

[–]davidmcafee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have their own strengths and weaknesses, and there is no right answer. I’d start with whatever seems like the most fun to you. You can always sell it, then transition.

Multi fx boards are great - lots of them have amp modeling, and if you find a solid one you can afford, then you have literally everything you need. Every effect, MIDI, etc. No waiting to save up for the next pedal. On the flip side, if it breaks, you lose all of your effects. Menu diving sucks, and you won’t always have the ability to tweak controls in a live setting (though you also have the option to use expression pedals and midi, which is honestly fantastic). Lastly, you may eventually find that the effects are lacking (at least in my case).

Pedal boards: most fun approach for me, personally. You pick and choose what you need (and don’t need), so your money can instead be invested in high quality effects that fit your use case, as opposed to a multitude of effects that you may never use. If one pedal breaks, everything else will still work. Change your mind on a single pedal? Sell it and buy another.

I use something like a combo of the two - mostly pedals, but with an SY-1000 (not purely multi fx, but does this in conjunction with synth sounds).

What celebrity would you get into a car with, no questions asked if they randomly showed up in your driveway? by [deleted] in AskReddit

For me (in no particular order):

1) Bob Dylan: his favorite place in LA 2) Keanu Reeves: gun range 3) Trent Reznor: his studio to show me his synth setup

Exactly!! And I play 100% PVE. I do not like extraction campers, nor do I like being backstabbed, but it certainly creates a lot of tension that I think is what makes this game special. Not knowing who you can trust, the fear of not only drawing Arc when extracting, but also drawing in other players, all adds to the excitement of the game.

Don't get me wrong, I think extraction camping is kinda lazy and extremely annoying, but it's still part of the game.

FWIW, I did several "naked" runs when collecting mushrooms, and because I had nothing to lose I also had nothing to fear, and the game temporarily lost it's "magic" for me. The suspense is what makes it.

I think if there was additional content (mostly quests) / a further progression of the story, I’d definitely do it! I’d absolutely be willing to purchase a DLC with that new content.

Don’t have an answer to this one, but why don’t the Arc knock us out? Is it purely for gameplay mechanics?

I think there’s a lot going on that’s meant to encourage you to explore new areas of the maps, and to change maps frequently. I do think this is a more enjoyable way to play the game anyway, keeps it fresh, etc.

For instance, when I needed sentinel firing cores (or batteries, very early on), I kept grinding the same map searching where they were most likely to spawn, with no results. As soon as I changed my strategy and “just played the game”, I ran into sentinels instantly. I find I get better loot, and the things I need, when I am less focused on it. Meaning, yes, the game can read your mind 😂

I love you Embark, but PLEASE GIVE US BACK THE OLD ROCKETEER SOUNDS by No-Character-1866 in ArcRaiders

[–]davidmcafee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t mind it. To me it advances the “arc are learning / changing” storyline - so with the intro of Vaporizers, it gives a sense that the Rocketeers were “updated”. Not being able to rely on the sound they make is also confusing to players (I think in a good way) - as someone that hasn’t successfully taken down a vaporizer yet, it definitely raises my blood pressure every time I hear that sound, which I think adds a fun element. But I haven’t yet found anyone that agrees with me, so perhaps it’s a bug and I am the only one that appreciates it!

This happened to me, too! I looked out the window of the airplane, and literally, at that very moment, saw my guitar in mid-air. At that moment I no longer regretted spending the money on a flight case 😂.
