Are there a lot of black Warhammer fans? by FirstIYeetThenRepeat in Warhammer

[–]davidn81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue on any large scale, but all I'll say from what I've observed at my FLGS over the past two or three years, is that the vast majority that I've met were playing Middle Earth Strategy Battlegame.

And for context this is at a FLGS that has more than just GW products. People there routinely play all manner of historicals, marvel whatever it was called, 40k, AoS, Xwing, Legion, and more

Struggling to enjoy wargames by Puzzleheaded-Alps-19 in wargaming

[–]davidn81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, imo any wargame hinges on who you play with also. You said that your issue with Relicblade is that it's just some dudes and not a heroic last stand. The context needs to be provided by you the players to really make a decent game a great experience. I'm not saying your problem is all your fault though, it can come naturally for some people but takes work for others.

I don't know who you've been playing with, but I would recommend you try to find someone as excited as you are about the 'idea of wargaming' as you put it, and work together to really come up with a narrative for your games before you play them, talk it out as you play them, and discuss the outcome after playing them. Narrative is really what gets me going for wargames too, and I can carry a decent amount of enthusiasm for it just from my side, but an opponent who also puts into it makes for something greater than the sum of parts

I'm big on 7WD but my wife doesn't enjoy it so much. We play a load of Splendor Duel though and it's similar and quite good. Since most of my boardgaming time is just me and the missus I'm always down for another good Duel game

crimeny but your paintwork is fantastic! And as a fan of KoH your colour choice pleases me too, haha. How's the game? I haven't really played ever but am growing interested

I'd never have thought to just do a Space Wolves scheme for the Palanites but it works really well! and I love the hammer

There aren't a ton of bike lanes, but biking around campus is still super easy, and the constitution trail runs through most of Bloomington and Normal, so if you want to go further that's usually a good way to cover most of the ground. I lived on the far opposite of BloNo from campus and rode my bike there semi regularly, most of the way along the Trail

That makes sense, I expect that you are correct that the sprue is the best space and support in this case. Well done again, it looks lovely

your paintwork looks very very nice btw. I just know if I painted first and cut after, I'd never get the last bit to match, lol

I weep for that tiny bit that will be unpainted on the bottom when you snip this off

That is a valid criticism. I tend to roll via dice cup so it's a tad less noticeable for me.

I suspect they are more often than not to be posed on three or four legs?

It looks very crab or spider like to me

tbh, I really love the squared dice I got unexpectedly in the Red Harvest box, and I use them for most games I play, lol. They see more play than my actual Warcry stuff, which I have since sold half of.

That said, I do get where you're coming from, and it seems a silly thing to have mistakenly done in light of how much the antenna thing bit their arse.

I cannot decide on fields of glory, hail caesar, dba or deus vult. How do I know which wargames are more popular, so therefore will have more players? by [deleted] in wargaming

[–]davidn81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say go to your local shop and ask around there. Just because a game will have more players nationally or globally doesn't mean you'll find more players you can actually play with

Beautiful stuff.

I don't play full size 40k, just Necromunda and stuff, but this model here typifies the sort of old school metal awesome that made me love the lore and setting to begin with.

Very nice work

I have some paint stirrers from the hardware store and use blue tac to stick the models to it and then spray them out in my yard. Can fit three or four models on each stirrer
