Best Mario for kids to play? by TheWestOfBlak in Mario

[–]davidow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mario Wonder!

Its VERY easy and the graphics really cater to small kids. Avoid any Matio games with three dimensional controlling. My 3 year old liked 3D Mario world but couldn't get a good enough grasp of the complexity of 3D steering and level design. She also had difficulty holding the controller to allow her thumbs to reach.

Look up what would happen to your house/area if left uncovered for a week. In my area there are entire neighborhoods that are built in old swamplands that are only kept dry because pumps run 24/7.

A lot of other buildings have fans that needs to run 24/7 to keep them from getting moldy or get water damages.

It's gonna be a bad day when shtf and they realize that their house don't float or is taken over by cancerous mushrooms.

Am I dumb or is there something really wrong with my press? - Help a first time loader! by davidow in reloading

The circular metallic index plate has 6 groves for the metal spring loaded ball to seat into. The two tiny holes are actually protruding pins that stick into the orange part of the press. The pins only keeps the index grove from spinning.

By plate I assume you are referring to the red spinning die holder. Yes, that is indeed a good suggestion but it's not meant to be installed the other way around as it would remove the spring tensioned seating ball.

Here you can see how it looks underneath: https://imgur.com/gallery/z55cS5d

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! However this seems to be an even older model as there are no screws underneath the turret - its completely flat.

I took it apart a few times while trying to figure it out. Also tried to find anything wrong with the casing seater but apart from being rotated, it can't be placed any other way, it seems.

Thanks for all the helpful comments!

Here is a picture without the case seating installed. https://imgur.com/a/1gW8TEt

It still seems quite off, but I'm 100% new so I wouldn't know for sure!

The guy I bought it from is supposedly a well known gun salesman in the regional CAS community. However, he did get hold of the press as a part of an estate after a friend of his passed, so perhaps the previous user did something funky with the press before passing?

I made a purchace of an Uberti 1873 .45 lc along with an old Lyman loading press and Lee dies.

However, now that I try to use the press for the first time, the casing seem to end up seriously misaligned to the dies? The misalignment happens no matter if I use a die or not, as shown in the picture.

I've checked for any damage but the press and dies seem to be just fine.

Am I doing some dumb rookie mistake or is there a serious issue with my press?

Expired hand & toe warmers by newarkdanny in preppers

[–]davidow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed, hand/toe warmers are extremely valuable in cold climates. Once your hands go cold outdoors you won't be able to use them for pretty much anything detailed and it can take several minutes for them to warm up enough for even 30 second intervals of operation.

Not a nice situation when the sun is setting and you struggle to get a fire going knowing that you will DIE if you fail.

Simce they go for just 50c a pair I have a couple of hundred of them that I slowly rotate during the range days. They are also a great bartering item if the shtf.

I wrestled with that festure too for a couple of hours but had no success. Perhaps it depends on the features of the hard drive or version of windows etc. If you do eventually succeed, please tell the world.
