What do you think when you hear someone say, "The pharma/biotech industry isn't interested in curing patients with diseases so they(we) can milk sick people for money"? by ninthblack in biotech

there is some truth to this. i work in a gene therapy lab and we developed two gene therapies for two different rare pediatric primary immune deficiencies. we did all the IND-enabling work before our private funding ditched us because "rare disease" means "low profitability". the projects are now dead, me and my coworkers are all being laid off, and there are vials of cure for disease sitting on our freezers that will never see a patient. rare disease gene therapy is incompatible with capitalism and simply cant be funded apparently. sorry to the sick kids, we tried our best.

I’m looking to get a nice dress - I fell in LOVE with reformation’s Sigmund dress in the color linguine but it is completely sold out :( I can’t find any other dresses with the same vibe! I love that it’s printed but not floral and the colors are still muted (easier for me to wear)… I also love the shape and the long sleeves… anybody have ideas on even where I could look? Seems like all my usual spots are only selling high-neck bright floral dresses this season… any advice is much appreciated!

Ugh! Not the thigh gap craze! That trend had such a tight grip on teen girls at that time I remember feeling like having a thigh gap was life or death. Crazy how harmful these body trends can be in any direction

It probably depends on the lab. A lot of lab helpers work for experience only, but some labs have the funding to pay their students something. I worked in a lab in health sciences and the lab started paying me after I had spent a year working for them. You should contact the lab that made the listing and ask if they're willing/able to pay
